Be thrifty, not grinchy, this holiday season
NY Post ^ | November 27, 2009 | John Crudele

If the holiday shopping sea son gets off to a bad start today, maybe we should blame all the blessings we were thankful for yesterday.

It's heresy to say this -- what with retailers looking to sell Americans a lot of stuff this Christmas -- but sometimes people just have enough things.

So, as families sat down at their Thanksgiving table yesterday, the decision-makers probably looked around the room and saw gadgets galore that were bought during better times.

And since said decision-makers are petrified about the job market -- and are about to be even more scared next week and over the next few months -- many of them will be thinking about cutting back.

Use it up,

Wear it out,

Make it do,

Or do without!

Nobody in my family has their heart in it this year. Obozo has created a depressed nation. If folks feel this way, they will not be spending much.

Obozo’s America is that we all suffer under constant crisis threats and taxes, they flaunt constant vacations, golf games, and giant “so called” elegant soirees at our White House.

Personally, our hearts are renewed this Christmas season. It has become so secularized, so commercial, that the reason for the season has become lost to a majority of Americans. I feel Jesus is bending the knees of the heart of many a Christian this year. It is not just a change in spending, it is a change in outlook. I have heard many people say they were scaling back this year with no intention of going back to the old ways. Many speaking of the reason for the season, looking forward to spending time, our most precious gift, with family. Churches starting to fill up on a weekly basis. This too is Gods providence, its just sometimes we need to have our choices taken away to make the right one since too many choices often cause confusion instead of discernment. God loves us enough to bless us, and that blessing sometimes includes discipline. We are 40 years into a systematic removal of His providence from our country by its government. But with the prayers and supplications of the faithful over those last years, he is stepping in and answering now.

This country has been acting like a group of spoiled teenagers for the last couple of decades. Eventually, a good parent, after several warnings and groundings, drops the hammer on the children they love. God is a perfect parent. I can only say rejoice in the fact that He loves us and has not abandoned us even though so many are far from Him. Tough love is hard, but necessary, for it to be true love......

Have a Blessed and Merry Christmas all, in keeping with the situation........ xoxo
