As someone who had to go though this for 3 years back in the early ‘80s, I’d disagree with your assessment.

I had to work part-time and donate blood to LIVE back then.
When I finally got a full time job in ‘84, I thought I had died and gone to heaven.

Indeed. Well, let's not let it slip past us that invoking an emotional influence on our reading of statistics is exactly what drives all bad policy, including Global Warming.

This thread is based upon statistical evidence. The evidence has been taken to say something is absolutely does not say.

Wait -- silly me. I'll put a stop to this nonsense right now and save myself a bunch of time and aggravation: prove to me that an hour worked is an hour unemployed.

Hey, another veteran of the early 80s slowdown. Watching the news you got the idea the world was coming to an end at any moment. That Reagan was President didn’t help the tone of the news coverage.
