Montana state law says that guns made and shot in the state are not under the jurisdiction of the federal government and that the federal should not tread on state law.

Montana District 61 representative Joel Boniek sponsored House Bill 246, the bill says state law trumps federal law when it comes to gun laws.

Firearms that are made and stay in Montana do not fall under the interstate commerce clause in the U.S. Constitution and is not in Congress' jurisdiction, according to Boniek who spoke Wednesday at the Big Sky Pachyderm luncheon.

His law is in court at the moment after the Montana Shooting Sports Association and the Second Amendment Foundation filed a federal lawsuit in Missoula claiming that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder does not have the authority to override Montana law.

"Guns are the object. The goal is state's rights. We're becoming a sub-sector of the federal government instead of the federal government being an agent of states," Boniek said.

I hope that the Supreme Court will follow their oath of office instead of the increasing kowtowing to federal power.

I like that idea and I would like Texas to pass something like it.
I would support a Texas Gun and Ammunition manufacturer.

I speak with experience of having lived in Montana for 5 years. You do NOT want to mess with people from Montana. They are nearly all armed, and there is a lot of remote country in which to bury bodies.

I have a feeling that Montana is going to get a little more populated if it becomes the last bastion of freedom in the lower 48.

Great! Maybe I’ll finally be able to sell my house near Helena for a decent price.

You may well be right. And should Holder attempt to intervene, Montana should tell him and Hussein to go directly to hell.

My wife is from Great Falls - I've been trying to get her to move back to Montana (Roscoe area) for years. She likes it here in Colorado!

I moved away in 2006 but couldn’t sell my house for what I wanted to get. I’ve had it rented since.

I’ve got 20 acres outside of Bozeman that I haven’t been to in 10 years. About time to take a trip.

My wife is a Montana native and I have been here since ‘71 and am not going anywhere in spite of the incredible population increase in those years. People are learning that Montana is the last best place and they are right!

The Bozeman area is real nice - you might not want to leave!
