Washington state will not accept any more parolees from Arkansas.
The governor's order stems from the belief that Arkansas could have kept the Lakewood cop killer Maurice Clemmons behind bars.
Despite a 108-year sentence in Arkansas, Clemmons was on parole. Former Governor Mike Huckabee granted that parole, and is still defending himself for it.
Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire says under a national agreement, Arkansas should've taken Clemmons back last May when he got himself in trouble again.
And don't blame the local courts for the Lakewood tragedy, the governor said.
Corrections chief Eldon Vail told Arkansas he'll reject any more parolees.
Vail says he doesn't know whether the governor's decision is legal.

So if you have a criminal record and are in this country legally stay out of Washington.
My goodness gracious, whatever will Washington do when the current governor is out of office ~ boot her into Oregon or something?
Here is another example of why everyone should inherently oppose Obamacare. Government cannot even keep track of hardened criminals. And people want government to manage their health care????
The once great state of Washington has gone off the charts on the left side. They are reaping their own folly now. Liberals believe that criminals have more rights than the victims. Too bad some good cops had to pay the price for the Liberals screw ups. (this includes the Huckster RINO)
Doesn't promote the wanton following of leaders does it.
Unless one is blind...
I never lived in Washington but isn't Gregoire kind of an idiot that took the present position by way of the Franken method?
yep
We have a terrible record in this state when it comes to felons.
Why not? Because they're "my guys"?
“whatever will Washington do”
mua, between Chris Gregoire and Patty Murry, Washington is breaking new ground on the bounds of public stupid. This is a backwash of the influx on Californians who fled north to escape libgov, only to immediately recreate it here. With the continued assist of Acorn and lots of corrupt republican condoned endless recount madness, we should be in the tank too.

Just posturing. You can’t stop everybody at the border and reject them if they’re from Arkansas, which is the only way they’d have kept this guy out. Once arrested, you can’t extradite them if the other state won’t take them. So it’s just for show.
“The Huck” is not in public office nor is he a candidate for public office. RINOs must be one or the other. Some guy who used to have office is not a RINO.
Patty Murry. Mention of her name makes me laugh. The woman is a total loss.
“Osama bin Laden builds day care centers” Patty Murry (D WA)
Not correct.
He was on parole from Arkansas and when he moved here to WA, he was under the supervision of our version of parole, Dept. of Community Corrections (DOC).
He got into trouble here, breaking his parole, and should have been violated by Arkansas and transported back there to serve the rest of his sentence, which he avoided by being paroled.
Arkansas refused to take him back and this is the end result.
So, yes, if he had just driven to WA he would have been an escapee and would have been sent back.
Since he was “under supervision” here when he fails/violates his terms, it is still called “escape from community custody.”
Either way he should have been tossed back to Arkansas.
What WA is saying is we won’t agree to supervise any of your prisoners for you because when they violate their terms you won’t come get them.
Hope that clears it up.
That’s just flat stupid.
That's just common sense.
How can you pick one state and say “no more parolees from this particular state”?
I’m all for states rights and I do believe they have a right to do this, I just think it’s stupid.
Washington has it’s own culpability here, can’t blame it all on Arkansas.
Wasn’t this guy in jail for the rape of a child and Washington let him out on bond? And then he also had that little thing of assaulting an officer. But it’s all the fault of the state of Arkansas?
