Years ago I had a Gunny lived up the street stationed at the local reserve, I saw him at a local bar one day and said, that smell must be those damn marines. He had to pull one of his pals off me. Screaming he's screwing with us he's a vet, they always hit me up big on The Toys for Tots Drive..... Which, I hope you have already given to. Which this whole post was leading up TO:

I’ve always given them something for the past 20 years, or so..
It’s a bit more personal this year, for me. My best friend’s nephew is a new Marine.

They need to check out who rigged his chute. A coupl of years ago someone scewed with the chutes on several Marines and they were lucky and smart enough to recover.

I didnt know Marines did jump training. Frequently.
CLARK AIR BASE, Philippines U.S. Marine Master Sgt. Daniel P. Furiak and Peter Strinden jump out of a U.S. Marine Corps KC-130 Hercules aircraft during a High Altitude-Low Opening jump Feb. 27 as part of Exercise Balikatan 2006. HALO is a tactical jumping technique in which the parachutist opens their parachute at a low altitude after free-falling for a period of time. Furiak is the paraloft chief for 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division. Strinden is the parachutes project officer for Marine Corps Systems Command.
Marines from 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division and 2nd Force Reconnaissance Company, 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, II Marine Expeditionary Force, jump out of the back of a CH-53 Sea Stallion helicopter and parachute into Onslow Bay off of the coast of Camp Lejeune, N.C., July 21, 2009. A total of 30 Marines practiced low-level static-line jumps or military free-fall jumps into the ocean to gain the knowledge they need to utilize the versatility of a helicopter insertion along a hostile shore.
U.S. Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Units Deep Reconnaissance Platoon grasp their static lines as they wait to jump during parachute operations, Oct. 18. The bilateral training evolution gave the Philippine airmen and U.S. Marines the opportunity to improve proficiency and efficiency in conducting parachute operations. The training is part of this year's exercises Talon Vision and Amphibious Landing Exercise. These exercises are annual bilateral training exercises conducted between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the U.S. military, which enhance military interoperability and improve communities through humanitarian assistance and civil action projects. The exercises are currently taking place from Oct. 15-27.(Official U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Joseph A. Cabrera)(Released)
The Marines with 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, practice low static-line parachute jumps from a C-130 Hercules airplane above Camp Davis, Sept. 11. There always has to be that ability, said Cpl. Wayne Clark, a team leader for the jump. (We) never know where we are going so the capability always has to be there. If we continually train for it we will be ready for it.

Naval Air Station PATUXENT RIVER, Md., Feb. 17, 2000 -- U.S. Marines from the 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion II MEF, Camp Lejeune, N.C., jumped into the history books of V-22 developmental testing in January for the first ever parachute operations from a tiltrotor aircraft. They were the first personnel to deploy from an MV-22 in free fall from 10,000 ft. These Marines, who are experienced static line and free-fall jumpers, made 24 jumps from engineering, manufacturing and development aircraft No.10.
