Copenhagen climate summit in disarray after 'Danish text' leak
Guardian ^ | 12.08.2009 | John Vidal

The UN Copenhagen climate talks are in disarray today after developing countries reacted furiously to leaked documents that show world leaders will next week be asked to sign an agreement that hands more power to rich countries and sidelines the UN's role in all future climate change negotiations.

Force developing countries to agree to specific emission cuts and measures that were not part of the original UN agreement;

• Divide poor countries further by creating a new category of developing countries called "the most vulnerable";

• Weaken the UN's role in handling climate finance;

• Not allow poor countries to emit more than 1.44 tonnes of carbon per person by 2050, while allowing rich countries to emit 2.67 tonnes.

Somebody trying to wrestle control away from the UN??

From the article: "The draft hands effective control of climate change finance to the World Bank; would abandon the Kyoto protocol – the only legally binding treaty that the world has on emissions reductions; and would make any money to help poor countries adapt to climate change dependent on them taking a range of actions."

Sounds like the World Bank wants a power grab to me. I'm not sure if they could do a worse job than the UN on the issue but I don't want either of them involved in issues that are best left to individual countries to deal with as they see fit.

Sounds like it, but who?

Can't be the U.S.; that would not be the Grand Kenyan's style.

The whole idea of "allowing" countries to emit this much or that much per person is preposterous and offensive.

Isn’t it though. It’s like listening kids make up the rules for a new game they’ve invented.

not so sure about that.

We know he and his pals like Soros the big money men are behind the take over this country.

Why not go more and create a new world order under the very same guys who are taking over this country and changing it to their radical agenda.

We know bozo doesn’t card about others as his own family still live in poverty.
We know those who surround him care nothing for others as we see this in the Govt health care bill where they do not care if some of their party lose their jobs .

So why not create their new world order for them and why stop at just America

It’s those thieves who also make the laws for everyone else that are the most contemptible, I reckon.

I wonder if somebody is actually trying to sabotage the thing. That would a wonderful way for it to go down, as they all scream and pummel each other in the hallways, and Bambi - who thought he had a sure thing going - wanders in with his nose up in the air and trips over them.

Prediction: Copenhagen lasts 3 days before the whole meeting collapses in finger-pointing accusations and corruption charges.

Almost 100 years ago it was the “Creature from Jekyll Island”, done in secret. Now its the “Creature from Copenhagen”, done in plain view for the world to see. It shows how good they are now at shaping public opinion that they can enslave us right out in the open.

A Climate change agreement in Copenhagen now looks set to be DOA. The Third World will never agree to limit their economic development so environmentalists in well-off countries can feel better about themselves.
