(Pentagon Hacker) Gary McKinnon: 11th hour medical report claims US prison would kill him
The Telegraph ^ | 12/11/2009 | John Bingham

Gary McKinnon the Pentagon computer hacker, cannot survive the US prison system, medical assessments at the centre of a last-ditch legal bid to stay his extradition say.

New psychiatric reports lodged in the High Court claim that Mr McKinnon, who suffers from Asperger’s syndrome, is now suicidal and will “almost inevitably” take his own life if sent for trial in America.

For the first time the papers include evidence from an American medical expert directly challenging assurances from the US government about how he would be treated.

Mr McKinnon’s lawyers submitted an application for a judicial review of Alan Johnson, the Home Secretary’s recent decision not to block his extradition on medical grounds at the Royal Courts of Justice on Thursday.

The move represents the last recourse to the British judicial system for the 43-year-old UFO enthusiast from north London.

But it ensures that he is certain to spend Christmas in Britain with his family and friends.

Even if his application is rushed through and rejected, he would then have 14 days to lodge a final plea to the European Court in Strasbourg.

Meanwhile Mr McKinnon’s mother, Janis Sharp, is planning an appeal to the Queen, asking her to put pressure on the Government behind-the-scenes over the extradition.

She is set to lead a march to Buckingham Palace next week and is urging people to send the Queen bouquets of flowers with messages of concern about the case.

Mr McKinnon, originally from Glasgow, admits hacking into sensitive US military computer systems from his bedroom in the wake of the Sept 11 attacks in 2001.

For those not familiar with the case: McKinnon claims to have seen evidence that a secret U.S. space force exists — presumably a part of a covert anti-extraterrestrial defense effort.

He may be full of bull, of course. Still, if his story is really so much bull, then why is he getting the Third Degree from FedGov? Script kiddies bust the Pentagon every day. I find it interesting that our government has taken such a hard line in this particular instance.

That can be cured: convict him of espionage and sentence him to immediate death. Suicide? No worries, Matey...

Somehow I can’t imagine prison doing wonders for ANYBODY! Isn’t that the point?

What a pant load!

The only thing this hacker is afraid of is what he thinks big Leroy is gonna do to his poop hole when he goes to an American prison. ;-)

Wasn’t there a freeper Michael Rivera or something like that who specialized in these kinds of stories?

I’d probably believe it but I’ve had too much government flouride in my water for the last several years.

Didn’t they tell him we have medictions to deal with that problem? Too bad for him but should’ve thought of the punishment before doing the crime!

Hey, laugh if you want. I’m not trying to sell you on the idea. It may be 100% baloney, for all I know.

It also might be true.

Hey, laugh if you want.

Hmmm....you're probably one of 'them'...and you want me to scoff at this report...or do you?

I get it...you're playing the soft sell, maybe it's false angle just to make me more susceptible to the idea that it is real.

Or is that exactly what you want me to think?

I'll let you be the judge of that.

Meanwhile, here's a nice promotional poster from Boeing to look at.
