We can’t recall the last time a company promoted the end of a product.
Did Ford extol the Edsel? Coke the New Coke?
Yet we have Whataburger buying little ads, setting up toll-free hot lines and Web sites, then paying PR people to call attention to the withdrawal of what is easily the Corpus Christi-based chain’s unhealthiest menu item: The A1 Thick and Hearty Burger.
The burger has lost its pizzazz, said a PR person with SPM Communications of Dallas, who is not authorized to be quoted by name,
Wednesday night, a North Texas hairstylist named Heather was scheduled to mount a "support group" gathering at an Irving Whataburger to mark the Dec. 21 disappearance of the 1,050-calorie, half-pound hamburger that packs 62 grams of fat, according to the chain’s Web site.

Good riddance to the Whataburger 'Thick and Hearty' burger?
Well, in Oregon, I had never heard of Whataburger. And when I got to Oklahoma, once again, I started hearing about it all over the place... LOL... Of course, when I was first in Oklahoma, they didn't exist. :-)
BUT, even though I've eaten their "Justaburgers" a lot (well, some... anyway...) -- I've never heard of the "Thick and Hearty" burger... Oh well...
And of course, Whataburger is originally from Texas, but it's all over Oklahoma, too.
What’s really funny is when somebody orders a Diet Coke to go along with it.
When I am in the South I usually seek out Steak and Shake. Who knows the burger in question? Is it something I should try before it disappears?
Sorry. the only time I have eaten at a Whattaburger I looked at my meal and said “What’s that... a burger?”
It was awful.
Now, the Brown Bag Burgers in Prescott... oh, mama, they’re incredible!

That would be me. Moving to Austin introduced me to Whataburger.
I just don’t want the sugar... had to switch to Diet Coke a few years ago when sugar acted up, and now I can’t stand the “real” Coke.

You should absolutely try it. When I visit my brother in San Francisco, the only thing he asks me to bring him is a Whataburger.

I’ve never had that particular one, but Whataburgers in general are very good — the best fast food burger I’ve had (I’m not out west so I’ve never had a chance to try In-N-Out). And their fries are just as good as McDonald’s.
We got hooked on In-N-Out Burgers when we were out in California, sure wish they had those in Texas.
They are good.
Never had it, I’m a Double Cheese straight up man. And the ketchup is gooood.

LOL... well, don't be cheap and just buy the 99-cent burger... :-)
I think they call that the "Just-a-Burger"... and it is... LOL...
