Benny Ben-Dror parachuted from an exploding helicopter in the Yom Kippur War and miraculously survived. Ben-Dror had kept his survival story secret from the public until now.
I was discharged from the IDF in August '73, explains Ben-Dror, who is now 58, and one Saturday morning in October I got a call: Theres going to be a war. Come.

Parachuting from a helicopter is so rare, that you can count such documented cases in the world on one hand, and in Israel there was only a single recorded case, explains Jacob Cooper Using a chute to bail out of a helicopter is rare, but deliberately jumping out of or off of one is not unusual at all.
I used to work with a guy that jumped from Chinooks fairly frequently as a Guardsman.
