Israel has admitted that in the 1990s, its forensic pathologists harvested organs from dead bodies, including Palestinians, without their families' permission.
The issue emerged with publication of an interview with the then-head of Israel's Abu Kabir forensic institute, Jehuda Hiss. The interview was conducted in 2000 by an American academic, who released it because of a huge controversy last summer over an allegation by a Swedish newspaper ... The Channel 2 report said in the 1990s, forensic specialists at Abu Kabir harvested skin, corneas, heart valves and bones from the bodies of Israeli soldiers, Israeli citizens, Palestinians and foreign workers, often without permission from relatives.
In a response to the TV report, the Israeli military confirmed the practice took place. "This activity ended a decade ago and does not happen any longer," the military said ...

I am not a medical person but isn’t there some problem with harvesting any kind of organ from a body that has been dead over a certain amount of time, say an hour?
I think ‘harvesting’ organs of any kind has to be done under certain conditions, strict conditions.

There's hundreds of millions of dollars to be made selling organs and body parts. And numerous lucrative organ markets would emerge, once health records are nationalized under Obamacare.
Now that the economy is totally destroyed, carving up dead bodies and selling organs and body parts will have enormous appeal as a gov’t money-maker.
A huge controversy erupted last summer in Israel over an allegation by a Swedish newspaper that Israel was killing Palestinians to harvest their organs. Israel hotly denied the charge.

The infamous 2007 US Body Parts Scandal involved many NY-NJ funeral homes. Ghoulish individuals actually cut-up dead bodies without the bereaved families' knowledge or consent. They made millions selling everything---from skin to bones to organs. They would insert PVC pipe into the lacerated extremities to hide their savagery.
Segue to the 2009 New Jersey-Brooklyn body-snatchers.......where a rabbi was caught selling kidneys for $100,00 "he said" he got from Phillipine donors who "he said" were paid $10,000.

It is seldom that anyone but the state has first dibs on a dead body. After all, you ain’t in it anymore. Some countries give more consideration than others, but even the US and its states don’t let anyone get in their way when it comes to the newly deceased. For example, it is quite common for an autopsy to be mandatory if the death takes place outside of a hospital (I’m sure there are some docs or coroners here that can elaborate on that). Tissue samples are almost always taken, and in many cases retained for the purposes of the autopsy. In other countries there are obviously greater uses made of the dead. Parts is parts.
So don’t assume that the control over your body extends past your demise. It doesn’t. Generally the states have no further use for your carcass after the official investigation is completed. It starts to stink, and you can see why they are just as happy to be rid of it. That’s when the relatives get their shot. If no relatives step forward, the state will dispose of it. Well before the body is disposed of, the deceased certainly has no need for the earthly remains and is long gone for somewhere/somewhen else.
I agree. I’m all for more donor organs being taken.
I think it should be a bit more difficult for families
to block donations of major organs unless they have something in writing from the deceased in advance.
Since organs have great financial value, expect medical decisions to be shaped by those values.
Therefore, I have revoked my organ gift agreement.

Let’s wait for actual confirmation like the original news story on channel 2 with verification. Lavie is no unbiased observer and has been caught misquoting in the past.
