Robert Byrd Back In Form for Senate Health-Care Vote

Paul Kane Washington Post Staff Writer Wednesday, December 23, 2009

Since Robert C. Byrd arrived in the Senate in 1959, the senior senator from West Virginia has cast more than 18,500 votes.

Byrd has orchestrated and witnessed maneuvering. He has presided over the shortest session in Senate history -- not even one second long -- and presided for the longest continuous period -- more than 21 hours. He has thundered from the Senate well with rhetorical flourish.

This week, amid a historic blizzard, the 92-year-old senator arrived in the wee hours after midnight, and in the frigid minutes just after dawn. When an aide guided him in his wheelchair onto the chamber floor just after 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, his fellow Democrats leapt to their feet and cheered, for the third time in five days

In US Term Limits by a 5/4 vote the US Supreme Court struck down Term Limits for Congress. This is how we get the Kennedys and Byrds!

Justice Thomas, in an opinion joined by Chief Justice Rehnquist, Justice O'Connor, and Justice Scalia, dissented.

"It is ironic," he began, "that the Court bases today's decision on the right of the people `to choose whom they please to govern them'" when its ruling indicated that neither the people of Arkansas nor their legislature had a right to make such a choice.

"Nothing in theConstitution," Justice Thomas wrote, deprives the people of eachState of the power to prescribe eligibility requirements for candidates whoseek to represent them in Congress. The Constitution is simply silent on this question. And where the Constitution is silent, it raises no bar to action by the States or the people.

Here’s the 1995 case which on a 5/4 decision screwed up our country. Yes folks, all it took was one single justice!

I hope Justus Thomas sticks around as I fear we will need his vote soon on some pretty important issues.

What is truly ironic about this is that the Dems wheel Byrd in to vote for a bill whose "Death Panel" would terminate him instantly.

Oh wait, Congress is exempt from Obummer's DeathCaretm

Okay, let’s keep the pressure on - especially Nelson. The governor and people of Nebraska are really giving it to him. Let’s add fuel to the fire! Let him know we are not only sick of the corruption of which he is chief benefactor, but we will also be cheering for the Cornhuskers to lose big to the Arizona Wildcats in their upcoming bowl game!

I am waiting for this caretaker of the constitution, as he plays himself up as, to voice his objections to this bill as in violation of our cherished, now violated document.
Oh wait, there’s a phony cover on the book he pulls out of his inner coat pocket, it was really Das Kapital all along.
The fires of hell await you senator byrd, cast your lot with the other 59 ddemons and seal your fate.

Of all the reasoned arguments about term limits, in the end it was just about power and preserving the status quo. The supremes are a sham.

When will this dinosaur Robert Byrd finally kick the bucket and go to his just reward in Hell. He is a former KKK grand cyclops or whatever it is called. Once again, this bastard demoRAT gives the shaft to America. It is too bad that staunch conservatives & born again Christians like Dr James Kennedy & Jerry Falwell are taken home to heaven in their 70’s, and then bastard evil doers like Robert Byrd live on and continue to vote to destroy Amerika. What a traitor!!!
