I grew up in Mt.Pleasant, SC, just outside of Charleston. I love the old Live Oaks, each one is so different from the others. The street I lived on was lined with Live Oaks, all with Spanish Moss hanging down. I am sure that most of the trees were older than the country.

Yep...My aunt was a USAF nurse and she retired out of Myrtle Beach AFB when there still was such a thing. We'd go to visit her in the summers and go on carriage tours in Charleston. Love the old oaks.
There are also some magnificent trees just to my south in Avery Island, LA...

Where I am all or the Oaks are stressed and many seem in death throes; large branches dying off and debris all over the lawn after every windy day. I had a forester on my property recently and he said this is common throughout New England.
