I’m 58 and GW has to be the worst Republican presidnet I can ever remember. This elitist snob snubbed his nose at the American public and said basically he didn’t care what they thought of illegal immigration and that he was going to proceed with amnesty. He also started a war based on false foreign interlligence on WMD, as stated by Colin Powell. His administration went on to blame Sadaam for obtaining uranium from Africa which turned out to be a lie. For exposing the truth Valerie Plain? and her husband were demonized. His administration kept the train wreck rolling with fomenting home loans to those that could not afford to pay them back. His expansion of big government spending is well documented. I got tired of holding my nose and voting for the lesser of two evils. I left the Republican party about 10 years ago. Maybe America will wake up with the marxist Obama in power. If illegal aliens are granted citizenship the voting base for the Democrats will be to much to overcome.

I have my issues with Bush but I think this goes a touch too far. I find that libertarians, the more doctrinaire ones, have a limited understanding of war. I despise the “moral equivalent of war” because it’s a way of imposing fascism on people but killing your enemy, even if it means killing “innocents’ is hardly an “un-libertarian” thing to do.
Now, Bush’s legacy will always be weaker because of the domestic overreaches, IMO and the mealy-mouthed compassionate conservatism business.
I just wish libertarians would understand that if you get REAL conservatives, they have far more in common than with the liberal fascists who would seek to bring EVERY sphere of activity and thought under the domination of the State, whereas most Burkean Conservatives do not propose any such arrangement.

The main thing that GWB did badly was not countering the lies and invectives of the left during the last four years of his term. He considered the Presidency to be “above” that sort of thing. As a result they defined him and “his war” and convinced the ignorant to turn out the Repubs in 2006 and then they foisted this tragedy upon us in 2008. I admire GWB but he blew it on this one.
