wow. hard to believe such a small amount could do so much damage. i wonder how much 60grams is?
To: don-o
The watermelon wasn’t “vaporized” as claimed. Watch closely, it was just knocked off the pole.

Liked the video, it was clean and focused with no nonsense. I sure wasn’t encouraged by it though.

About 2 ounces. A sixth of a can of soda, in liquid measure. Just happens to be the same as about 2 ounces of mass, 2 first class letters at max weight. Not much fuel, and not much oxidizer.

Your eyes (and your computer) are better than mine. Can you furnish a screen cap to prove your assertion?

Even so, it was just a drop.

Son of a ..... One DROP blew up a watermelon? Even with the three ounce rule, this could easily destroy an aircraft.

Even with the three ounce rule, this could easily destroy an aircraft. From another news source:
"The suspect had more than 80 grams of PETN, a compound related to nitro-glycerin."
80 grams is just under 3 ozs. - tom

Well if it makes you feel any better shoe-boy reid is freezing his ass off in Colorado. what a crying shame. We have all these tall trees and can't use them!

"Can you furnish a screen cap to prove your assertion?" I tried to catch it several times but can't see it now, other than the general spray. Could have sworn earlier to seeing the major body of the melon fly off to the right.
Anyway, as Ron pointed out, it was just a drop of explosives which did this demonstration. Impressive.

Color me skeptical. Too many opportunities to falsify this video — like embedding an M80 in the watermelon.

Nothing new. Wy, back about 1960, Superman opened his Fortress of Solitude to tours. Two men decided to destroy it with a binary bomb. A thermos of coffee and ink form a fountain pen were the ingredients.
the bomb was thwarted.
