You may not have noticed, because most of the plots were foiled, but 2009 saw an unprecedented surge in terrorism events on U.S. soil. When analysts tally these events, they refer to anything from a disrupted plot to U.S. citizens traveling abroad to seek terrorism training or a lone gunman running amok in the U.S. And by the calculations of Rand Corp. expert Brian Jenkins, more terrorist threats were uncovered in the U.S. in 2009 than in any year since 2001.

"There appears to be an increase in [terrorist] activity in the U.S.," warns Jenkins, who calculates that there have been 32 terrorism-related events on these shores since 9/11 and that 12 of them occurred in 2009. (See the top 10 inept terrorist plots.)

Some of the more noteworthy events of 2009:

I did a title search and didn't see this. It's time for end-of-year lists and I have heard 8 to 14 terrorism incidents since Oh!'s inauguration.

• In November, Major Nidal Malik Hasan, the son of Palestinian immigrants, who had grown up in the U.S., was accused of going on a shooting spree at Fort Hood, Texas, killing 13 and wounding 30.

If TIME can admit Fort Hood was terrorism, why can't the White House and the military?

Terrorism experts and Muslim-community leaders caution that the spurt in such events doesn't necessarily add up to a trend. For one thing, the cases are unconnected.

Hrmmm not a trend and unconnected? Really? So Islam isn't a trend or connection then?

...12 of them occurred in 2009.

Coming from TIME, let me guess:

01) Tea Party protests.
02) Townhall meetings.
03) Faxes, emails, phone calls opposing DeathCare.
04) Criticism of Obama.
05) Boy Scouts using the naughty word "God" in their Oath.
06) Some infidels still walking around saying, "Merry Christmas."
07) Girl Scouts selling cookies without Barney Frank's oversight & approval.
08) People giving money to charities instead of Democrat coffers.
09) Talk Radio not rolling over to have its belly rubbed like the DAMNED GOP.
10) The accursed peasants voted in 2 Republican governors in November.
11) Approval index is -21 instead of +21,000.
12) White Officers acting stupidly.

Listen to this crap:

Terrorism experts and Muslim-community leaders caution that the spurt in such events doesn't necessarily add up to a trend. For one thing, the cases are unconnected. "Each case has its own special circumstances," says Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

Liar, liar, pants on fire. Oh wait, that happened 2 days later. It's all terrorism, it's all jihad, but "unconnected." Says the leader of the domestic jihad, as he sends out coded messages to the jihadis.

You and I caught the same steaming pile. So TIME published this only as an apologetic for the terrorists.

"There appears to be an increase in [terrorist] activity in the U.S.," ...

Not to worry. They are all isolated instances. (according to O.)

Yep. I was kind of surprised that they mentioned so many of them had converted to Islam, but on the other hand that let’s them play the “they wouldn’t have converted and blown stuff up if we weren’t in a war with al-Queda” card.

Hmmmm...all cases involve Muslims plotting to kill Americans on US soil; you're right just an isolated incident.
