Abdulmutallab’s Lawyer is Public Defender Who Forged Documents in Detroit Terror Cell Trial

[M]eet Umar Abdulmutallab’s lawyer, Miriam Siefer, whose salary you are paying.

[...] During the Detroit terror cell case, she represented Karim Koubriti, an Islamic terrorist in a cell, which plotted to blow up the U.S. Air Force Base in Turkey, where U.S. AWACS and Israeli F-16s are based and from where they took off. They also plotted to blow up hotels and casinos in Las Vegas and planned to detonate in Disneyland.

During the course of her “representation” of terrorist Koubriti, Siefer and her fellow public defender, Richard Helfrick a/k/a Rick Helfrick (who will probably also assist her in representing Abdulmutallab), stole the stationery of the then-Chief Judge of the Federal Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, Lawrence Zatkoff, forged Zatkoff’s name, and sent it to another attorney in the case, accusing him of faking invoices (which wasn’t true). That makes at least several federal crimes that I can think of–theft, forgery, impersonating a federal official, mail fraud, etc. but they got away with it.

In an interview, Judge Gerald Rosen, who presided over the Detroit terror cell case, admitted to me that Siefer and Helfrick forged the documents. Then, he berated me for daring to ask about it, saying his court “deals in serious issues.” I guess attorneys in a federal case committing several crimes and impersonating a federal judge, just aren’t serious. In any event, Siefer and Helfrick got away with it, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be grieved to the Michigan Attorney Grievance Commission about it, as anyone–including any of you readers–can file a grievance against them.

And don’t put Siefer’s dirty tricks, and illegal and unethical behavior past her in the Abdulmutallab case either.

Ms. Siefer and her colleagues notched a victory in a previous high-profile terrorism-related case. In 2003, her office defended an immigrant accused of being part of a terrorist "sleeper cell" in Detroit. Ms. Siefer didn't make a court appearance but was heavily involved in the case, according to other lawyers. Her office's client was convicted, but a year later the cases were dismissed after the Justice Department said its lead prosecutor hid evidence that could have helped the defense.

This is beyond despicable and to think that W's Justice Dept was involved in facilitating a known terrorist's being released and not charging this scumbag, ambulance chaser, for her criminal conduct, is hard to fathom, but the Debbie's evidence appear to substantiate that this in fact took place.

So Miriam Siefer, the public defender assigned to represent the Nigerian terror suspect, was once honored by the National Lawyers Guild! The National Lawyers Guild, despite its innocuous sounding name, was founded in 1937 and has been known ever since to be a Communist front group. The fact that Siefer even accepted an award from them likely shows her true color: RED. (And I'm not talking about her hair color!)
