Low favorables: Dems rip Rasmussen By: Alex Isenstadt January 2, 2010 05:53 PM EST

Democrats are turning their fire on Scott Rasmussen, the prolific independent pollster whose surveys on elections, President Obama’s popularity and a host of other issues are surfacing in the media with increasing frequency.

The pointed attacks reflect a hardening conventional wisdom among prominent liberal bloggers and many Democrats that Rasmussen Reports polls are, at best, the result of a flawed polling model and, at worst, designed to undermine Democratic politicians and the party’s national agenda.

On progressive-oriented websites, anti-Rasmussen sentiment is an article of faith. “Rasmussen Caught With Their Thumb on the Scale,” blared the Daily Kos this summer. “Rasmussen Reports, You Decide,” the blog Swing State Project recently headlined in a play on the Fox News motto.

“I don’t think there are Republican polling firms that get as good a result as Rasmussen does,” said Eric Boehlert, a senior fellow with Media Matters, a progressive research center. “His data looks like it all comes out of the RNC [Republican National Committee].”

“Whether intended or not, Rasmussen polls have been used by conservative voices as talking points, and when that happens on one side it inevitably produces a reaction from the other,” explained Mark Blumenthal, a polling analyst and the editor and publisher of Pollster.com. “Rasmussen produces a lot of data that appear to produce narratives conservatives are promoting, and that causes a reaction.”

Let them suffer until the election. It will be like sticking the knife in to the hilt and then twisting it around to mutilate their insides.

Hey Dums, Rasmussen has been the most accurate pollster in the last 9 years.

The media wing of the liberals, Politico, doing a hatchet job on Rasmussen. He polls, you decide!

Most of the lib polls, NYT, NBC, WaPo, etc. are heavily weighted with liberal/democrat respondents and are surely not biased./s

Rasmussen will become the Fox News of pollsters - popular and reliable with the vast majority of Americans but constantly smeared and demeaned by liberals because they don’t oversample Dems the way the other pollsters do. You see, unless you slant the news the way liberals want to hear it, you’re considered “unreliable” and “partisan”.

Typical lib crybabies. They weren’t slamming Ras when the polls were supporting 0bama-rama-lama-ding-dong. Now that the truth is beginning to come out and the 0bamaroids are being seen for the socialists they truly are, they want to kick the messenger. Rather consistent with anointed one and his minions...kill the critics.

It’s time to take back the country.

Maybe the favorables really ARE low.

Does no good to shoot the messenger, you will only die uninformed.

The correct response is to take the message to heart, and make the necessary effort to reduce the negatives that are driving the polls. Like, kill the cap-and-trade, stop the wholly misguided effort to “reform” the means of delivery of health care services, and get on with the effort of restoring a robust economy in this country.

Oh, yeah, take some SERIOUS steps to restore confidence in our air travel within and outside the US, like determined and enforced screening by profiling airline passengers BEFORE they get to the gate. Look for the burning eyes and inappropriate actions, and direct them away from airports everywhere.

Losers complain about polls. Dems did it in 04. Pubbies did it in 06 and 08 - and I called those of us complaining about “biased” Gallup polls losers too. If you’re complaining about biased polls, you’re in denial.

Let them whine. Rasmussen still provides the best polls out there as indicated by past results. It was the most accurate polling firm of 2008. If they don’t like the results then maybe they should look at themselves and their candidates and issues they support.

“It’s time to take back the country.”

Well, this is the year to do it, especially since the dims are tanking. And if the SHTF, the left will be easy enough to identify.

Do Dictators honestly care about polls. They are going to do what they please, regardless of what the majority public thinks.

... designed to undermine Democratic politicians and the party’s national agenda.

Looks like the Dems, with their corruption, deceit, lying to the electorate, etc., are doing a pretty good job of undermining the country's confidence in the Dems' ability to govern. Rasmussen simply provides feedback as to what the electorate is thinking.

We didn't like Rasmussen too much when the polls went against what we favored either. Reality can suck sometimes, but that doesn't change reality.
