Sarah Palin almost nudged feminist's beloved Hillary out of the first place spot in the Gallup's recent Woman of the Year poll. The buzz from women who can't bring themselves to acknowledge Palin's self-made success is spiteful and loud, especially on the internet. Why is that?
With the help of her husband, former President Bill Clinton, Hillary catapulted her career from a small city, small state Arkansas attorney to a failed run for president, finally settling for her present position as Obama's Secretary of Defense. Hillary has one daughter and a marriage that has seen more than its share of public scrutiny because of Bill's prowess as a womanizer.
Sarah Palin, on the other hand, is self-made and has risen from a position as a small town mayor to head commissioner of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, a state entity that manages the state's oil and gas leases, and finally to Governor and VP candidate for John McCain's failed run for president. Along the way Sarah had five children, including one with special needs.
Sarah never failed to put the "W" in "Woman" while there is something about Hillary's interpersonal relations that almost voids her as mother and wife. Hillary has the, "I am woman, hear me roar" concept down pat that most feminists admire -- while Palin has both the "roar of success" and the warmth and real-person identity that many Americans, both men and women, find compelling.
Sarah is the ultimate Enjoli Woman exuding the confidence of knowing who she is in each multi-leveled life role. It's easy to see Sarah as a daughter, a sister, a friend, a neighbor, and a mother and wife. Nothing she has ever done in her career voids her personal life; in fact, it enhances the Sarah mystique of the complete woman, one who can forget her job as she takes a break for something as feminine as a make-over, as shown in this Examiner article.
Remember this Enjoli fragrance commercial? There was a time when it was ok for a woman to be successful, sexy and smart -- as much at home in the boardroom as in the kitchen. That woman represent choices then and now. It's more and more ok to choose to be a housewife; to choose as many hats or as few hats as you care to wear. Sarah Palin's success harkens to a woman's right to refuse to be boxed in as she embrace all of her choices -- and that's why feminists fear her.

She’s only the most hated amongst the media. They are tiny, but loud, and growing more meaningless by the day.
My guess is that if a poll were taken on the nation's most hated woman, San Fran Nan would win hands down.
An idiot on a local discussion board is trying to use Sarah Palins second place finish in the Gallup poll as proof positive that Americans hate Republicans.
Amazing, the contortions that Liberals must go through to justify their hatred.
Some of them are so far gone, you just gotta shake your head and ignore them.
“Don’t Hate Me Because I’m Beautiful (and RIGHT)”.
Palin 2012
The difference is statisticsally inisgnificant. Plus Sarah Palin probably beat Hilary Clinton too.
Read this from Freeper “RegulatorCountry”
“On both lists, partisan leanings mattered. Obama won among Democrats and independents, but Bush beat him among Republicans.
Anyone even moderately familiar with statistics should see something peculiar going on with this. Bush only got 4% overall, but won among Republicans. This says that the sample weighting of Republicans was very low, for polling on the “most admired men.”
Then, we get to the “most admired women.” The results are quite different. These were clearly not results from the same set of respondants, nor were they weighted similarly. They were literally two separate lists derived from two separate polls using two separate methodologies.”

The Left and their minions are living in the new Dark Age of ignorance, superstition and fear. This is why I call them zombies from the dawn of the dead. They are the new savage and they are dangerous.
"I can bring home the bacon, cook it up in a pan, and never let you forget you're a man."
Every guy in America did a collective "WOO HOO!!" One of the funniest and sexiest lines of all time.
That's it. That's what I see in Sarah.
This was in the San Francisco Examiner? Color me shocked. The reader comments in the Examiner are funny but, sadly, less vapid than the Palin-haters here at FR.
“Hillary has the, “I am woman, hear me roar” concept down pat...”
Not really. Compared to Sarah, Hillary is “I am woman, who can tell”.
This may sound far-fetched, but I don’t think it’s impossible that Hillary may end up providing some support for Sarah Palin. I doubt she would ever go as far as to endorse her (but that might change if Sarah were to run as an Independent). But Sarah has said some positive things about Hillary, how she’s “broken the glass ceiling” and such, pretty much fluff statements but they might return big dividends if Hillary truly decided to hang up her pantsuit and “retire”. Having let the DNC power base slip away, she might just return some of those compliments, and if she did, bring a lot of PUMA support.
I only wish that were true, at least it's not true here in blue state Connecticut.
Most women here are liberal and nearly every single woman I speak with hates Sarah with such an emotional and vitriolic reaction that I've come to conclude there are 2 things at the root cause, in this order:
1: Abortion
2: Moral certitude
I'm not sure why the abortion issue is not discussed more when it comes to these dialogs about "why they hate Sarah Palin". It's obvious (to me) that we now have hundreds of thousands of women on our voter roles who have had abortions themselves. These folks simply cannot bring themselves to even consider the thought that they may have murdered an innocent life. The reaction they have to the topic is so emotional and over the top that it becomes impossible to even discuss the topic with them. I suppose it's a psychological trigger, because it must be really painful to consider what they've done, especially when they are alone with themselves....
But when it comes to their politics, the psychological block goes up and hatred comes out because, more than anything else.... what Sarah Palin shows each of them is that it is indeed possible to be successful, powerful, to have a career and to bare and raise children. Sarah's moral certitude terrifies these women, because deep inside, every single one of them knows exactly what they've done...
and THAT is the reaction you get when you mention the name "Sarah Palin".
Hated by the Bra burning feminine Nazis, who would also hate Mrs. Cleaver, Mrs. Cunningham and Mrs. Arnold. I’m hoping there are still those types around to crush the opposition. I know, I married to one, but it took 3 tries to find her. Surely Palin is every non whimpy guy’s dream, but Hillary? Who in his right mind would want her around the house raising kids and have to duck while she throws things and screeches?
Wow. You may have discovered the true reason for the Sarah hatred. I have asked lib women why they hate her, and they laugh and say they don’t hate her, but she is sooo stupid, and then they mock her.
If someone were stupid, then she is no threat.
If it’s a psych reason about abortion, that starts to make some sense.
No, Mrs. Palin’s children are not half breeds, they are quarter breeds. I know, I’m like Todd and doggone proud of it, just like everyone is proud of their ancestors.
Thanks for your thoughtful post. I grew up in East Lyme, but I now live in Alaska, and I’ve actually talked with Sarah Palin back when she was just a council member in Wasilla.
I think you’ve hit the nail on the head. Your words really resonated with me, just speaking as a man whose two children never made it past the decision of their mother to terminate the pregnancy. A fair number of us walk around with much guilt and shame about those decisions, too, and we admire Sarah Palin a great deal for her moral certitude, and especially for her decision to give birth to a child with Down’s Syndrome. In fact, I think there are more of us - those of us who live in the shadow of abortion and regret it - than those who took part and pretend that there was little or no impact.
Let me say it just one more time: I don’t know if Sarah will make a good president, or talk show host, or whatever, but she was clearly one of the most intelligent politicians I’ve talked with. Calling her “stupid” reminds me of Ann Coulter’s quip that all Republicans are either stupid or evil to a liberal. Or both. LOL
