In a gripping, exclusive e-mail from Hawaii, the radio talkers lady love, West Palm Beach resident Kathryn Rogers, gave Page2Live a dramatic play-by-play of what really happened before Limbaugh was rushed to a Honolulu hospital.
And while Limbaugh told the media at his release from the hospital on New Years Day that doctors didnt find anything wrong, Rogers intimate account indicates that, without the proper response, the outcome could have been different.
Rogers, 33, a VIP manager for the upcoming Super Bowl, said she was having her nails done with her mother downstairs at the chi-chi Kahala when she received an unusual phone call from the conservative voice.
At lunch, Rush was in a fantastic, upbeat mood, Rogers wrote, adding that she and Limbaugh traveled to Hawaii to visit her family. I sent a text to him in the spa to tell him it was great to see him so relaxed and happy. He wrote back thank you.
Later, I received another text from Rush. I didnt look at it . . . Within two minutes he called.
Due to Rushs (hearing loss), we dont often speak over the phone, more via e-mail and text, Rogers continued. When I saw that he was calling, I thought thats weird he never calls. I answered with my one free hand. Rush said Kate, I think Im having a heart attack! in a very stressed tone. I hung up, pushed back the nail table and yelled to my mom: Rush is having a heart attack! Call 911!
Rogers ran up to Limbaughs suite.

As I entered, Rush was standing holding his chest, red face, sweating, all the makings of a heart attack, Rogers wrote. I said, Oh my God, and sat him down telling him the ambulance is on the way. Within minutes the hotel managers and security team were in the room.
The pain was worsening and the scene was extremely scary. I kept reassuring Rush that the ambulance was on the way. The (hotel) security staff . . . put Rush on the floor and gave him an aspirin. His symptoms continued to escalate and we were all very scared. The paramedics arrived and began to evaluate Rush on the floor. He was administered nitro(glycerin) and we were rushed to Queens Medical Center.
Rogers described how she stayed up the following night to watch over Limbaugh, who turns 59 next week. He spent the next day getting tested. Limbaugh and Rogers celebrated New Years Eve by watching the ball drop in New York City on the tube from his hospital room.
The doctors did say while this was not a full-blown massive heart attack, timing was extremely important, Rogers wrote. We believe strongly the quick action on the part of the security team at the hotel and the paramedics resulted in Rush being O.K. today.
Under normal circumstances, Rogers wrote, shed wait before calling 911, because of privacy concerns. But this time around, something told her not to waste time.
Rogers wrote that she agreed to provide details of the couples ordeal in the hope that readers who may end up in similar situations will not hesitate to seek help quickly.
Limbaugh is scheduled to return to his Palm Beach mansion on Tuesday, and to the EIB airwaves Wednesday. He will be evaluated by top cardiologists in Florida over the next few weeks, Rogers said.
A good idea, although I think I’d have to make it 7 or 8 baby aspirin. More palatable.
I think Rush is more like someone I once knew.
He was a sharp and smart guy who ran a great business, except he spent too much on things he didn’t need. Generous in the extreme. And one of his great qualities was that on a personal basis, he trusted people. He had people working for him who ended up convicted of serious crimes, but he always believed them innocent even when it was obviously not so.
His wife was cheating way on him and everyone knew it- but him, even though well meaning people tried to tell him.
He took in so many people and gave them a leg up. Problem was, he really couldn’t tell the good from the bad. I am thankful when I say we were his best emotional investment; we were grateful and paid him back many times what he gave us.
There is a huge difference between being totally savvy on a non-personal basis, and in knowing the person and falling for a line.
Like Bush, I’d bet a friend with Rush is a friend forever. And no one near him goes in need.
Sometimes I find it hard to like the guys on Free Republic. Could you be more sexist and shallow? Well, all of you look at least ten years older than the age you claim to be!
So there.
Rush has already used up his third time's the charm. This would be his 4th marriage.
Keep a large supply of water and possibly a bottle of liquid potassium in addition to the aspirin.
I have these symptoms when I get dehydrated.
I don’t know.
Lets be kind. Its possible she saved Rushs life.
And I hate to say it, but it surprises and pleases prudish old that me they were staying in separate rooms.

Chewable aspirin is newly on the market now — great for this purpose. I’ve chewed my share of the old style stuff though — UGH.
Rush mentioned that he still takes Prednisone for his pain. That is some dangerous stuff with nasty side effects. I wonder if it had anything to do with this incident.
He is a fool if he is taking Prednisone for his pain.
Hey, I wasn’t trying to be sexist and shallow, guess it just comes naturally. I was just trying to figure out what a chi chi Kahala is?
“Are you kidding me. Hes pushing 60 how much sex can he have?”
Hey, now...

“I think Rush is more like someone I once knew.”
Exactly. Some males don’t have a suspicious gene. Being rich helps dull the pain.
Bottom line, I think marriage is better when young people build a life. Unequal benefits ruin the marriage transaction.
I don’t like the Jessica Simpson, horse faced look of this one Rush, but I don’t have to wake up hearing her whinny.
“So there”
I think you’ll find more honest men - men - here.
That could be disturbing.
First Marriage -- Roxy Maxine McNeely: Roxy filed for divorce in March 1980 on grounds of incompatibility.
Second Marriage -- Michelle Sixta: Michelle left Rush. Rush and Michelle divorced in 1990.
Third Marriage -- Marta Maranda Fitzgerald: Rush and Marta divorced on December 21, 2004 in Monroe County, Florida.
Enteric aspirin is OK for a preventative as well, but NOT in a cardiac emergency. The coating allows the tablet to dissolve in the small intestine, not the stomach. Therefore, it takes longer for the drug to enter the bloodstream.
Rush's marriage advice: "If you want a successful marriage, let your husband do what he wants to do."
