Tv's late-night shlock market
New York Post ^ | January 5, 2010 | RITA DELFINER

Tune out those frenzied, annoying infomercial pitchmen -- Consumer Reports says a lot of their products just slice and dice your wallet.

In a feature titled "Should you 'buy this now!'?" in its February issue, the magazine said that, based on its tests, the answer is usually no.

After testing 15 products, the experts at CR suggest some of the items consumers can skip are the Slap Chop dicer, the Snuggie, the ShamWow, the AbCircle Pro, Debbie Meyer Green Bags and the iRobot Looj gutter cleaner.

Something tells me the subscribers to Consumer Reports are not the target market for that junk.

I still have a Magic Ginsu Knife (with a set of free steak knives) and it’s been working great for over 15 years.

I’ve been wanting to try the Magic Loo gutter cleaner...

Just how the heck do you connect the commode up to the
gutters?

Actually bought the “ShamWOW” at my local Sams Club. Love them. They’re not as great as Vince, the guy who got beat up by a prostitute says they are, but they do work very well as cleaning cloths.

I like the green bags. They have worked for me when I use them in the veggie bin in the fridge. But Wal-Mart sells them. I think they are made by Hefty and called "Fresh Extend" or something like that.

I have a nice chinese chopping knife that I use for every chopping chore there is!

I’ve got the Pampered Chef version of that thing. I love it and use it all the time.

Did you check out the remix of the Slap Chop commercial? A hip-hop beat? The company thought enough of it to run it as part of a tv ad.

My knife is about 30 years old, used it on small tree branches and it still works great! LOL!

Glad the bags worked for you. I bought the green bags in Target on a whim and they don’t work for me. I hated what they did to bananas, they changed their texture. They may have extended the life of romaine lettuce a bit. I also got the bread bags — duds! I do have a food chopper I bought around 15 years made by Zyliss and it works great. I use it all the time.

I really like my Pampered Chef chopper too. Turns turkey dressing makings into dressing in a flash. Love it!

I just bought some green bags at the dollar store. (Not the same brand though.) I put my carrots in them in the bin of my fridge. Waiting to see how long they last. Before I eat them of course.
I was thinking of making myself a Snuggie. It sure is cold here in Florida these days (and nights)!
