AP source: Obama weighing new levy on banks

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is considering a levy on banks to help recover tax dollars from banks that needed Washington's help to stay afloat.

A senior administration official says Obama is considering seeking a change in the law so that banks could be forced to pay back tax dollars more quickly.

The big banks have alreadd paid TARP back.

Will this “fee” apply to GM? Fannie and Freddie? They owe FAR more back than do the banks....

It must really be astonishing to the democrats that they have yet to succeed in the Cloward-Piven strategy, so they're amping it up some more, to see if they can get the crash they desire and dole the borrowed money to the government dependents they can create/cultivate.

Lets punish successful banks and subsidize the badly run banks.

When you punish something, you get less of it, when you subsidize something you get more of it.

This isn’t good.

They know that smacking the banks around will be popular after they got a huge taxpayer bailout but they continue to screw with consumers at retail level.

They are desperate for additional revenue streams to prop-up their profligate spending.

So it’s a win-win for them.
