The look on Coakley’s face when Brown said it spoke volumes. Also, you can hear Gergen....gurgle...right after Brown said it. I hope Brown wins that seat and I will be sending some money to help support him. It won’t be much, but it will be something.

I was thinking about why these businesses were supporting this monster bill.

It's simple - they are getting an implicit guarantee, as a new "partner" with the government, that they will be able to maintain their current market position. They have the staff and resources to handle the paperwork and expenses generated by onerous new legislation, and they are betting their smaller, younger competitors don't and will be forced to sell out or merge.

Most large multi-national corporations hate capitalism. The continual emergence of new competitors makes it too unpredictable.
