Hours before President Barack Obama's appearance with the Democratic candidate in the Massachusetts Senate race, political handicapper Charlie Cook sent an unusual weekend update to his Cook Political Report subscribers saying that Scott Brown, the Republican, is now a slight favorite.

I’ve been making calls for Brown since Monday. My unofficial tally has Brown winning by an overwhelming majority if it is accurate.

Did you see Obummer at Sunday church today...first time in eons? He was at a black church mainly composed of Haitians and descendents. Obummer mentioned he was blessed with a brand new born nephew, but said something to the effect if he grew up like himself, the church wouldn’t see him except every 30 years or so. And he looked dreadful, his eyes were just slits. I was just surfing through channels, so only watched a few minutes, but was flabbergasted at his “second rate comedian” routine. He still has to start touting Martha “Croakley” today and if he comes across like he did at that church, Scott Brown is a shoo in.
Charlie Cook is a very accurate and reliable pollster, and this is good news. Coming from him, it is more re-assuring than had this come only from anecdotal evidence passed on by over-eager Freepers.
It will be interesting to see if he is as stoned as he was in that church today.
TOTUS will be in full effect with his head swiveling like a stick.
How do your call responders identify themselves? Dems? Pubs? Indies? Are the call lists only for registered Pubs? etc.

Charlie is very careful with these things in the last days of a campaign, he wouldn’t be providing an update unless he had good info and data to back it up.
I’ve sent him a note and asked what is up.
