Why not just fire a couple hundred of these Predators and take out Waziristan entirely?
Because they cost 100K apiece.
Predators are the UAVs. Most use Hellfire missiles.
If it was anyone but the Pentagon and the federal government doing the buying, the price would have gone down as the number of purchases increased, buying in bulk if you will. After all, the R&D is paid for. But no. That said, armed with Hellfire missiles (and Stingers), Predators are really, really cool.

Because you have to get the bad guys out in the open and the Predators in the sky at the same time.
