Ask anyone who's lived in Terre Haute for a long time and they'll tell you crows are a big problem this time of year. But getting rid of them isn't as easy as you would think.
An estimated 60- to 80-thousand crows call Terre Haute home every winter. And despite many efforts to rid the city of them, the crows return annually.
Just one look at the outside of Brownstone Manor at 12th and Ohio Streets in Terre Haute and you know this place has quite the crow problem.
"Our biggest concern is the amount of droppings around our area are so severe that the smell and fumes just really seem to increase the respiratory problems that our residents already have," said Suzette Foy, the administrator at Brownstone Manor.

At the beginning of every winter where I live in northern Illinois, the crows like to bunch up in the trees. It’s only for a few days - the leafless trees are black with crows.
When my daughter was young she got a great kick out of watching me clap my hands as hard as could and thousands of the black flying rats would take flight in unison. Quite a sight.
Try a ladder trap. It can catch dozens at a time.
I have a recipe. Tastes like a cross between duck and chicken.
I have a huge oak in my back yard; they took up residence there and I popped one with my BB gun. Apparently the sound of a BB gun is innate in the fight or flight area of their brain, because they all took off in a flash, thousands of them.
For me, the key is to abstain from firing until the ambient noise is too loud for your prick next door professor neighbors to hear. Luckily, we are on the flight path of an airport so I get a lot of opportunities.
When I lived In Lancaster Pa. the Mall,(Huge), had a serious problem with blackbirds swarming..the sky was black with them.
Finally they hired a group who put sound systems on the roof, these echoed shots fired. You could see them fly as soon as they went off..they were timed every so often to “fire”. Sounded like bombs were being fired from the roof.
