Australia's Next Top Model judge Charlotte Dawson rejects plus-size models, as reported at MSN. Says Dawson, "I would like someone to name a plus-size model in Australia because I can't." As far as Dawson is concerned, a plus-size model will not win the reality TV show. Australia's Next Top Model was created by Tyra Banks, the host of America's Next Top Model. In the program, models are eliminated until one model remains and is crowned the winner.

Is it unfair for Dawson to prevent the success of a plus-size contestant?

Australia's Next Top Model judge Charlotte Dawson says "no" to plus-size models because she claims there is no market for them in Australia. Says Dawson, "You can't change the industry overnight." It is true that the sizes of women's bodies vary from country to country. Travel to France and you will find many women, both young and old, able to fit comfortably in size 0 jeans. Come to the United States, and size 0 is the exception, not the norm. If there are indeed few plus-size models in Australia, crowning one the winner of Australia's Next Top Model would do her a disservice, or would it? Even if there are no gigs in Australia for plus-size models, as Dawson claims, what about in other areas?

Smoking has a lot to do with it, but it can also be height too. I’m 5'3 and a size 2, but a size 2 on my frame is a lot different than a size 2 on some one 5'6 or 5'8. I quit smoking a year ago and lost weight because I replaced smoking with running which is a lot healthier and cheaper on the wallet. ;-)

Holy cow, if “plus size” was size 8, then what in the world is “normal size”??? When I was young and fit, I was size 6-8. I guess now I’d be “whale size” at size 12, LOL!

Actually it is worse than just smoking.Bulimia is very common in France and is said to be the secret passed down generation to generation. How else do you think that they can eat as they do and still be so small?
