EDITORIAL: Obama's loose grip on reality
THE WASHINTON TIMES ^ | January 26, 2010 | THE WASHINGTON TIMES

President Obama's response to the catastrophic political failures of his freshman year in office is to fight harder for more of the same. Presidential adviser Valerie Jarrett made the point explicitly on Sunday, asserting that the White House is "not hitting a reset button at all."

-snip-

The White House claims it hasn't reached out enough to the American people, but the real problem is that Mr. Obama's vaunted oratorical skills have had a short shelf life. In the administration's first months, the president regularly took to the airwaves to push his agenda, attempting to mimic President Reagan's effective use of television to circumvent congressional roadblocks. However, networks began to push back when it became clear that giving up valuable prime-time slots to Mr. Obama meant ratings death. Now the half-serious story making the rounds is that the State of the Union speech was scheduled so as not to conflict - or compete - with the premiere of the final season of "Lost." The president's relentless reliance on teleprompters likewise has become a national joke, building the impression that America elected a reader when it needs a leader

Obama should give his State of the Union address from Hollywood, that would certainly be more fitting.

Amazing that he’s been in front of the camera so much that, now, in this his first SOTU address, we’re already royally sick of him and his preacher cadences.

Seriously, does he take his teleprompter and podium to bed, rest his head on the seal ... He and sounds looks like he lacks a whole lot of reality.

There, fixed it.

Maybe I’m immune to hypnosis or maybe I’m just not stoopid.

Whenever I see someone being congratulated for his oratorical virtuosity my spidersense starts tingling.

When I see the Great Orator saying nothing but platitudes I really get suspicious.

When I catch him in bald-face lies, I’ve had it with him.

I still love the statement in the post-Brown Stephanopoulos interview where he states he’s been working so hard on policy he’s neglected to communicate to the voters. Hoooo boy!

And when he berates the same banks and investment firms he’s made deals with, and promising to “fight for us” I get really cheesed.

Watching and listening to him now makes me ill. He really thinks we’re a bunch of retards.

“He and sounds looks like he lacks a whole lot of reality.”

Those who have continuously referred to him as ‘a genus’ have lacked a lot of reality, not that I care if any president is ‘a genius’. Einstein had a pretty screwy personal life, and I would not have wanted him to be making government policy, so ‘genius’ is not the criteria for being a good president. Introspection and humility are, however, hugely important, and Obama is not mature enough emotionally to have developed these to an adult level.

All that said, Obama has never done anything that justifies being called a genius, or ‘one of the smartest men to have held the presidency’, as many talking heads have said. The only reason those things have been said is because the left thinks that they are smarter than anyone else, and since he spouts the party socialist-liberal line he must be too. Pathetic.

Bringing a teleprompter to a sixth grade class without figuring how that might be viewed is a definite sign of lack of reality. And then doing the same at what could be best called a staff meeting to show the people ZERO and friends were really really concerned for their class warfare and how it is viewed by the middle class — Regardless of intelligence that illustrates someone not really hooked to the floor they stand on.

About as insecure a person as I have ever seen.

“About as insecure a person as I have ever seen.”

Probably part of the equation, but another part is that so many in Washington are convinced that they are indeed smarter than everyone else, in large measure because of their educational backgrounds. Obama seems to me to be like a self-convinced university junior who thinks he's special and worldly because he knows what Le Monde is. It's a very naive and ironically uneducated world view, but it appears to be all too common among the current crop of politicians.

When you drag around a teleprompter for everything, you got a problem — it starts with brain doesn’t work well.

He also shows his non-functioning brain when he lies about most everything and thinks you are too stupid to know.

I guess you could say he still thinks he is in Indonesia.

Mr. Obama's vaunted oratorical skills

The teleprompter wouldn't be an issue if Bambi's speeches worked while using it.

This entire narrative -- which the Wash Times is buying into -- of the great "vaunted oratorical skills" of this mohron is false and worthless. If the dude's "oratorical skills" worked, they'd work, with or without the teleprompter.

What's really happening here is that the emperor is walking naked, something most fools didn't see last November.
