Grape growing, fish protection clash in California

By JASON DEAREN, Associated Press Writer

Fri Jan 29, 3:46 am ET

HEALDSBURG, Calif. – Grape growers in Northern California's cool, fertile Sonoma County wine region are stomping mad at a new plan to limit the amount of water vineyards can pump from local rivers and streams to protect crops from frost — a proposed regulation meant to safeguard coho salmon, a species on the brink of local extinction.

Vineyard acreage in Sonoma County, adjacent to the Napa Valley, has increased 30 to 40 percent during the past decade and the county estimates the businesses generate about $2 billion annually.

Pretty soon, California will be a desert again. And all over local extinction, not COMPLETE extinction.

How does Coho salmon taste, anyhow?

The Wine growers need to get together with the Central Valley farmers. The water was turned off to most of the Central Valley farmers and now, driving down I-5, you can see signs every 20 miles or so that say ‘Congress created dust bowl’. It is heartbreaking. Meanwhile our produce prices will soon rise as they are not able to grow much there anymore. My recollection from our trip in December is that a few almond groves were green but not much else.

Well, the environmentonuts didn’t care that 25% of our food would not be grown this year because of a minnow. You know that salmon is way more precious than wine.

It’s the DELIBERATE crushing of the middle class in this country. How better to do it than by taking down capitalism - enter Marxism.
