'Love boat' prom scandal (immigrant separatism--- corrupting America)
NY POST ^ | 2/1/10 | SUSAN EDELMAN w/ Sarah Ryley

Posted on 02/01/2010 7:22:46 AM PST by Liz

It was the immigrant high-school's first prom since opening 2005.....one of 10 in the city supported by the Int Network for Public Schools, a nonprofit whose motto is "Opening doors to the American dream." 300 immigrants to NYC who speak little or no English were enrolled. When the yacht "Fantasy" set sail for a 3-hour cruise, the liquor started to flow--As it neared midnight, several faculty members, loosened by booze, boogied with the kids.....a chemistry teacher wrapped herself around a boy and locked lips. Alcohol is forbidden at school events attended by minors.....officials could not say when the DOE learned about it, whether parents were informed, why the probe is still not complete 7 months later.....and whether school or DOE funds paid for the booze.

A “three hour cruise” eh? Did the weather start getting rough? Was the ship “tossed”?

I vote Not Guilty. The student is the hero of the student body.

There should be no alcohol at any high school events. Period. The kids are too young and the adults should be able to wait until the event is over. I suspect Arne Duncan won’t have any comment.

Chemistry teacher...? Well, there was certainly Chemistry, and apparently she wanted to give the kid a lesson in Biology....

I vote not guilty

I would shoot any adult who even thinks of kids in sexual ways.

That’s just me.

I keep reading the article and just can’t find the part about illegal immigration. Is your link correct?

In this day and age the Prom is just a stupid idea.

The Perp.

OK ... back in HS, I had a biology teacher who was a billion times more "not guilty". As a senior, I had a semester of independent study with her. Whatever fantasies of stockroom hanky-panky I may have had, today I'm glad she kept it professional.

Kids are NOT too young. It should be 18 to drink

What happened is the teacher who was ALREADY hooking up with student got drunk and DID it Publicly.

Wasn’t student’s who was drunk but teacher.

Alcohol should not be at high school events. Period. Most high school Juniors and Seniors are not 18. The legal age is STILL 21. The adults should be able to wait until after the event if they want alcohol. That’s all. Sanity prevails.

Yes. I always told my son if an adult does anything inappropriate with a child, it is ALWAYS the adult’s fault. Too many kids are guilt ridden by adults who blame the kid for that adult losing control.

I need more evidence. The article said “buxom.” I’m not seeing it from the photo there.

I also noted that the other student involved is 18+. She should get into trouble, but it ain’t illegal.

Too many adults think its “cool” when a kid and adult have sex.

Too many ‘adults’ are too immature to claim that identiy.

Read the article. They are both adults.

Holy crap, a 50 year-old can do it with a 25-year-old and it’s okay, but mix an 18 and a 25 year-old and ooooooooo that should be illegal!

American kids, this day and age, are FAR too young at 18 to start drinking. Hell, most 21 year olds are too young too drink.

One of the problems in our culture is that we don’t have a sharp line between childhood and adulthood. Adults keep thinking they are kids and can be irresponsible.

My daughter told me some Native Americans used to make a person break all their toys when they became an adult. There are other cultures with tougher rites of passage. When you pass, you see yourself as an adult and you don’t go back to acting like a fool. Extended adolescence is a construct that our culture has which is really not doing us any good.
