AUSTIN Gov. Rick Perry in his unprecedented nine years in office proved time and again that he is a team player: team Republican.
Perry's actions and policies as governor from tort reform to congressional redistricting to championing an amendment banning gay marriage made him anathema to Democrats.
But his approval rating among self-identified Republicans in public opinion surveys remains above 70 percent........
You can easily summarize Perry's record by saying: Most Texans don't expect much from their state government, and that's what he's given them, Jillson said.........
Redistricting Victory
It was the seminal year of his governorship. The Legislature resolved a $10 billion shortfall without raising taxes; passed legislation limiting civil lawsuits; created the governor's Texas Enterprise fund to lure business to the state; and established the controversial and now largely defunct Trans Texas Corridor plan. Perry also pushed through a congressional redistricting plan that changed a 17-15 Democratic majority to 22-10 Republican......
Trans Texas Corridor
The toll road plan and Perry's veto of eminent domain legislation angered many. His administration since has scrapped the Trans Texas Corridor, though not public/private partnerships to build toll roads. And he satisfied some with passage of a new eminent domain law, though it lacks some of the compensation of the original package............
No money fairy' to help
Perry claimed the property tax cut saved $2,000 for each homeowner. It actually worked out to an average of about $150. The savings for most homeowners lasted one or two years before appraisal creep wiped out the savings. Perry said he warned that would happen if appraisals were not capped, but he could not convince lawmakers.......end snips, more details at the link

Neither of these people is a conservative, let us remove our blinders.
Yep, every time the primaries come around.
There is a link in the comments section to a Medina article that you may want to post if you so choose. That way it would have it’s own thread.
This should be fun.
Don’t forget Giardasil. RINO Rick had Merck in his pocket for that one.
Probably right...but I hope not. A Medina win would terrify the GOP establishment - all of whom need to be “retired”.
Do you know where is this wing ding going to take place? I’ve not seen a location specified but then I’ve not looked either.
I don’t vote in Texas, but Perry has been moving right, and Kaye Bailey has been moving left. And Perry has actually done some good things as governor, not just talked about it.
Medina might have been better, but I don’t think she is peaking soon enough. And it would be a disaster if Kaye Bailey wins the primary. Too bad. At one time she had a fairly good reputation, but that was a long time ago, and she’s been shuffling left ever since.
My eyes are wide open. The only decision left to make is which end of this s*&t sandwich will go down with the least amount of gagging.
No matter the winner this time whomever is going to have a major budget problem to deal with and it probably isn't going to be easy. Perry balanced the budget this go round using stimulus money or so it's claimed and that will have to be dealt with next session. If the fed money hadn't have been there we maybe dealing with a totally different mind set amongst the electorate.
Anyone else having FR log out issues? had to log back in 3 times in past 1/2 hour. Someone must be jackin with the server.
I sort of go with your feeling about Gov. Goodhair and DC-KBH. Wishing Medina had started earlier! She is a rising Conservative Star, maybe she’ll have enough mass for 2016 Gov race. For 2012, will go again with Rick, sure don’t need no DC on the Colorado (anymore than than it already is - locally) or wake up to Gov. White!
Only if Medina managed to work a revolution in the power of the governor, as Allan Shivers did in the power of Lt. Governor back in ‘46-’49. Only longivity and the backing of his party has given Perry clout. Medina may be a political genius; she certainly would have to be.
Perry is the best of the lot. During Katrina was when I really appreciated him. The media came down here with the idea of bashing TX when all the LA folks were moved here. They didn't even stay one day when they saw the organization for disaster here was incredibly superior to probably any other state in this country.
On the other hand, power balances power. The more power in Austin, the more able to resist DC pressure. Wouldn’t mind Texas becoming the Bavaria of the United States.
Well, the mayor of Houston—wasn’t that White—did well, too. Anyway, the lesson is that Texas ain’t La, and it ain’t California, either.
No. We don't want much from our government.
The problem MUST be resolved LONG BEFORE any one ends up choosing the lesser of the evil. It’s happening time after time....we MUST remove the PROGRESSIVES from the equation!!
“Nugent to Perform at Palin/Perry Rally”
Sounds Conservative enough for me.
