‘Access to Guns,’ Not Jihad, to Blame for Ft. Hood, Says Noted Islamic Scholar (barf alert)

Imam Zaid Shakir came to speak at my school, Claremont McKenna, on December 9th to respond to the “tragedy of Ft. Hood.” Rather than respond to the massacre of American servicemen, Shakir spent the evening indicting the United States – saying “we were born in genocide.” The reason for the Ft. Hood Massacre, according to Shakir? Not jihad or Islamic fundamentalism, but the “pervasiveness of violence in our society” and because of Americans’ “easy access to guns.”

Zaid Shakir – Final [1] from The Claremont Conservative [2] on Vimeo [3].

For those wondering who Mr. Shakir is, he’s the go-to expert on Islamic issues for the mainstream media. The New York Times describes him as a “leading intellectual light,” while rap scholar, Cornel West says “he is one of the towering principle [sic] voices not only in contemporary Islam, but in American society,” according to this biography [4]. Most recently, he was described by John Esposito [5] as one of the “500 Most Influential Muslims.”

After comparing the massacres at Ft. Hood by Major Nidal Hassan to the Columbine killers and Maurice Clemmons, of Mike Huckabee pardon fame, Shakir said that the violence we have seen was not a “Muslim problem,” but a problem for everyone. You never quite know when someone will “snap.” [The following is extracted from a transcript from audio I took of the public lecture at my college.]

Well, curiously, guns had been around the civilian areas and the military areas of the Fort Hood region for approximately 300 years.

NOTHING HAPPENED UNTIL THE DAY THEY GOT IN THE HANDS OF A MILITANT ISLAMIC.

we have seen was not a “Muslim problem,” but a problem for everyone. You never quite know when someone will “snap.” some extremist Muslim jihadi will attack.

Simple fix ...

So does this mean the corrollary is also true? That easy access to strap on bombs is the main problem in the so called Palastinean areas?

If gun control works so good why are the highest murder rates in gun control cities? Guns were banned on the fort so how did that work?

Yes, it is always the gun that kills someone and not the NUTCASE behind the trigger.

It is the car, knife, 4”x4” and rock that killed someone and not the NUTCASE behind it.

Gee, genocide killed 170,000,000 million innocent people after firearms were confiscated....Yup, it’s always the honest law abiding citizen and the gun to blame.

The freaking left will not stop with this nonsense until we stop them....

Its called a “motive” Zaid, this is the same type of stupid argumentation they use when describing rape victims in Sharia enforced countries.

The victim is at fault because of they way she dressed, not the fault of the rapist.

“imam...”

Stopped reading there. If I want to be lied to by a filthy mohammed worshiper, I'd replay the last State of the Union address.

Uh, when Hasan went nuts at Fort Hood, he was not screaming, “GLOCK! SMITH & WESSON! COLT! RUGER!” He was screaming, “ALLAH AKBAR!” Why should we pay any attention to the explanation of someone who belongs to a group of people who want to destroy us and our country?

Mmmm.......no. From all the reports and investigations conducted by the US Army, "DIVERSITY" is to blame.

It was access to Islam that killed those soldiers.

Far deadlier than bullets.

How many guns were used on 9/11?

The weapon of choice in the ME is the car bomb - not a gun.

This lunatic wants to disarm the American people so his jihadists can run amok.

Ummm, I think even the rabid american anti-gunners have given a pass to the military and the police when it came to gun bans. So a commissioned officer shouldn't be able to own a handgun in the mind of gun haters???

The reason for the Ft. Hood Massacre, according to Shakir? Not jihad or Islamic fundamentalism, but the “pervasiveness of violence in our society” and because of Americans’ “easy access to guns.”

The reason for the Ft. Hood Massacre 9-11 bombings, according to Shakir? Not jihad or Islamic fundamentalism, but the “pervasiveness of violence in our Islamic society” and because of Americans’ terrorists' “easy access to guns airplanes.”

I guess he really is that ignorant.
