Politics: The GOP has been invited by the administration to a health care summit. Will it be an effort to pass real reform, or an attempt to lure Republicans into a bipartisan disaster?
When Democrats thought their absolute majorities in the House and Senate guaranteed the passage of government-run health care, they had no use for either GOP input or transparency. White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid were quite content to fundamentally transform one-sixth of the American economy behind the closed doors of a Senate room.
They dismissed the rising anger of the Tea Party movement as angry mobs stirred up by right-wing talk radio. Then came stunning electoral defeats, first in the Virginia and New Jersey gubernatorial races, and then in the race for the "Kennedy seat" in bluest-of-blue Massachusetts. Democrats discovered that angry mobs vote.
Scott Brown ran and was elected as the 41st vote against government-run health care. Voters were angry that their voices were not being heard and that all the rhetoric about hope and change had morphed into the Louisiana Purchase of Sen. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana and the Cornhusker Kickback given to Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska.
Stuck with a Senate bill that could no longer bypass a filibuster or be passed by the House, Democrats turned to blaming the GOP they had shut out of the process for obstructionism, calling it the party of "no." Democrats said the GOP had no ideas even after it drafted multiple legislative alternatives.
Now that their ship is sinking and they increasingly face an electoral tidal wave in November, Democrats are inviting the GOP aboard a ship that's listing heavily to port. They've been invited to a televised health care summit on Feb. 25.

The stupid party will blunder -—————— again!
We shall see
I wrote to DeMint today and asked him if Obama starts calling on Lindsey and Snowe for “ideas” and leaving him in the dust that he pull a Joe Wilson and get up and walk out ... for all of us to see on TV. These guys know as well as we do that this is a trap ... it will be interesting to see if they reach for the bait or how they handle it. They will be defining themselves in the process.
DON’T GO! DON’T GO! DON’T GOOO@
