International Polo Club founder and owner John Goodman blew through a stop sign before his Bentley smashed into another car, pushing it into a canal and killing the driver, authorities said.
A preliminary traffic homicide report said that John Goodman, 46, drove through a stop sign at 120th Avenue South and Lake Worth Road early Friday morning. The report said Goodman's 2007 Bentley slammed into a Hyundai driven by 23 year old Scott Wilson, a recent University of Central Florida graduate.
The impact sent Wilson's car tumbling into a nearby canal, where he died.
The report said that charges are pending in the case and alcohol or drugs are being looked at as a possible contributing factor.

Bentley vs. Hyundai? Was any Grey Poupon spilled?
Bentley vs. Hyundai? Was any Grey Poupon spilled?
Isn’t this how they make Grey Poupon?
Oh no.
“Weems, do fetch the Bentley from the canal, then muck the stalls and feed the horses. Sic the attorneys from Ben Jarvis Green Ellis on the mother and fetch me some watermelon pickle. Dismissed.”
I saw this on the way to work this morning. Helos and lots and lots of spinning lights. Isolated stretch of road.
sad

Yeah right, from the looks of it he better call ahead and find out if they serve Grey Poupon in Raiford. The victim’s family has a whopper of a wrongful-death suit as well.....
This was a tragedy for that young man and his family.
Maybe if you lived here and saw, on a regular basis, the examples of rich people and their toys and the damage they do to mortal peons (usually in sportier vehicles than a Bentley, but you get the picture), you’d appreciate the morbid humor. My favorite was in Fort Lauderdale less than 2 years ago when two teenagers were racing in their daddy’s sports cars and two German tourists were mowed down (while walking on the sidewalk) by one of the cars, when left the scene immediately. A badly damaged Porsche Carrera was later located and traced to the driver via the RFID chip settings which adjust the seat automatically for whomever is behind the wheel. You can pretty much leave this story set in type, because it happens over and over down here. Either the wealthy drunk or the child of wealthy parent who just happens to be out of town so they can play fast n’ furious where other people walk. It’s morbid humor, sure, but it’s one of those privileges we have.
The headline should read International Polo Club owner hits and kills son of future owners of International Polo Club.
I must be getting old [65] because I new immediately what Wally meant.
My favorite story was told 40 years ago. A young man from Maryland drove on his motorcycle down to the Tampa area because he located a great job. Less than a year later he returned home because he kept being surrounded by old people having heart attacks while behind the wheel. The final one was making a left turn across the young man’s path when he had his heart attack half way through the turn and came at the young man [sitting on his motorcycle] instead of turning into the roadway. Fortunately, the young man was now well aware of the possibility that any driver on the road could have a heart attack, saw what was happening and was able to gun his motorcycle and avoid being hit.
The old man’s car ended up in a front yard. The young man stayed around to try to help, but the man was dead. The young man went to work, quit, collected his pay and the next day headed North for home. He said he’d rather brave driving in the snow on his motorcycle than driving in “heart attack alley” as he called Florida traffic.
