Neighbors report a mushroom cloud that hovered over the high school. The girl's basketball team saw cracks during their morning practice. The boys team practice was postponed. An engineer was called out and he evacuated the building 20 minutes before it collapsed.

Wow! Glad people were out of there when it came down.

The event must have made everyone hungry, because you could barely find a table in town tonight, unless you wanted to wait for an hour.

Pappy, we had the same thing happen here in Arkansas last week.

Searcy High School Gym Collapses

Printer Friendly Version Reported by: Lauren Lea, Karktv

Wednesday, Feb 10, 2010 @05:44pm CST

Another insurance adjuster is headed to Searcy High School, several days after the auxiliary gym collapsed.

The roof had several inches of snow on it Monday night when it fell. No one was at school when it happened and no one was hurt.

The building and its contents were insured for $1.25 million. New soccer uniforms, football equipment, weights and other equipment are still underneath the rubble. Superintendent Tony Wood says they are waiting for the all clear to go in and remove the items.

They had to adjust P.E. schedules and other activities. Wood hopes to have a new gym built before school starts in August.

Hartford Civic Center in the 70s did just this. At 4 am. No one was in the place and so no life was lost.

During the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, it was reported that Black people died because of racism and that it was Bush’s fault. Let’s not forget Rove’s infamous weather machine.

Obama, a black man (kinda), has published that all of todays serious problems are... Bush’s fault.

Now, the subject event occurred in a place called “Blacks—burg”.

Therefore, the most likely cause of this unfortunate event was... well....

.......... it’s Bush’s fault. ;>)

“Roof collapses at Blacksburg Va High School gym (due to snow). No injuries.”

Correction: “Roof collapses at Blacksburg Va High School gym (due to GORE-BULL Warming). No injuries.”

Remember, Gore-Bull warming causes more snow.

Yikes. As if we need another reason to stock up on beer.

Snow causes roof collapse at Rahr & Sons Brewing

Heavy, wet snow brought down much of the roof at the microbrewery just south of downtown Fort Worth on Friday. The collapse ripped down coolant lines that kept 13 large storage tanks at the right temperature in what was once a soft drink warehouse.

Owner Fritz Rahr says frigid weather will keep the stored beer sufficiently chilled until he has the lines repaired or finds enough refrigerated tanker trucks to move out some 22,000 gallons of craft ales and lagers.

"We've got two or three days where the beer will hold temperature unless we get 60-degree weather," said a bleary-eyed Rahr, who is nursing a cold and was awakened at 5:45 a.m. by his alarm company, saying that the sprinklers had gone off.

That’s not far from me, and we’ve got another 4-5” on the way. I hope people are out checking roofs.

That school was built in the 70’s and has seen some large snows, don’t know yet if it was weight or age that is the major issue. Also, one of the other schools in the county was built at the same time frame with a similar design. They just had a game last night with a full house, could have been a lot worse.
