VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Apolo Anton Ohno glided around the ice Saturday night with a U.S. flag tucked under an arm, flashing a handful of fingers plus one.

Roller Derby without the script. Not to mention, kinda dangerous. Those are some really long and sharp knives they’re wearing on their feet. They showed one of them who got 60 stitches from one of the wipeouts, barely missed an artery. Said he would have bled out in 10 seconds.

I’ve not seen any of the 2010 Winter Olympics.
But Ohno does seem to be a decent sort of “Olympian”.
(and there are plenty for other nations...)

Its lovely that it was the south koreans who knocked each other out of the medals. Truely the most classless, elbow throwing, dirty players in speed skating.

But don’t do anything to them, I still remember Salt Lake ‘02.

flashing a handful of fingers plus one.

Read that and clicked in to see if she has a birth defect. Six fingers on one hand. She doesn't. She's normal

Ohno has 1 silver in this Olympics so far and 6 career Winter Olympic medals...matching former Winter Olympian Bonnie Blair who also has 6 in “long track” speed skating.

Actual article title: “Day 1: Ohno, Kearney win; slower luge track debuts”.

Just clarifying the story somewhat.

Actually, Ohno is a guy. It’s hard to tell from that second picture, admittedly.

Just like today, they did it to themselves.

I remember very clearly what happened in ‘02. On the last lap of the race, the Korean performed an illegal blocking move that is an instant disqualifer. And it wasn’t some home town bias american judge who ruled on it, it was an australian who was lead judge, they then reviewed the move via video and confirmed it.
The video replays showed the foul over and over again from every angle.
So what did the Koreans do? They protested. They refuse to stand on the podium. They blame America and Apollo Ohno. And spent years claiming it was all some conspiracy against their country.
They still weren’t over it at Torino in 06.
It was lovely to see karma bite them on their classless butts tonight.

You gotta admit those Koreans are phenomenal skaters. They had Gold and Silver locked up but that wasn't good enough. Pride comes before the fall.....and fall they did. It was beautiful to watch.

Watching the replays, the Korean’s cheated again. They did a grab and throw back on Ohno on the last lap. They would have swept the event if they had not gone dirty on each other and crashed.

The winner is the one who grabbed Ohno, he should have been disqualified, but it seems the judges are spineless these days. Ohno himself says he says interfered with and the replays confirm it.

You get some leeway since none of the contestants have names like Tom, Dick, Harry, etc. :^)
