WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- The number of available job openings fell by nearly one-quarter last year, as finding a job became much tougher.
Labor Department data released Tuesday estimates there were 2.5 million jobs available at the end of December, down from 3.2 million one year before.
At the same time, unemployment soared by more than one-third, leaving more laid-off workers competing for fewer jobs.
According to Labor Department's Job Openings and Labor Turnover survey, there were 6.1 unemployed workers for every 1 available position in December.
That's a sharp jump from the previous December, at which time there were 3.4 workers per opening and from December 2007 with 1.7 jobless workers per opening.
tax revenues are a function of two variables: tax rates and the tax base.
Regardless of the tax rate, tax revenues have almost always come in at approximately 18 percent of GDP.
It’s that hope and change thing.
So no matter what the rate the revenue is the same. Well lets lower the rate.
Well lets lower the rate.

A plan of real economic growth, as Democrat like to spout, ‘jobs, jobs, jobs’!
Dems create no jobs. For every job they “create” the private sector loses 3 jobs. They must be eliminated before we can get back towirk. Again. Socialism does not work. Never has and never will.
“WKOW” is apparently a TV station in Madison, WI. LOL!
I suppose that they broadcast from the W-KOWTOWER?
Oregon is paying out $65,000,000 in unemployment benefits EVERY WEEK.
I am unemployed and recently had an interview for a job.....I was the 2nd of 14 to be interviewed. Would love to know how many applied!
It is tough out there.
