VANCOUVER (Reuters) - The ultra-green sheen to speed skating at the Olympic Oval was dealt a blow on Monday when Games officials said they were bringing in a propane-powered Zamboni to replace a bulky battery-operated ice resurfacer . . . .

The Zamboni versus the Slurpi...
Ya what is greener, propane or thousands of pounds of toxic batteries and the coal fire plants to recharge them?
I knew the “green” movement had something to do with this after watching the debacle last night! I couldn’t understand how a Zamboni, a technology that has worked fine for decades suddenly didn’t work. I also have my doubts on the new freon, as I’ve seen more “bad ice” problems in hockey arenas over recent years than there seemed to be in the “old days”.
Their way is definitely greener. The course is so wet and mushy they might as well turn it into a rice patty.
Watching TV last night I believe they were using Olympia resurfacers and they were the ones not working.
A mechanical problem with the Olympia Ice Resurfacer delayed action for the second day in a row, causing more than an hour-long interruption in Monday's men's 500 meters race.
So they are using Olympia. Although I'm guessing a non-electric Olympia would probably have worked as well.
It just gets worse and worse for the Green Nazis!
Bummer! Olympias are made in Canada.
