Unfortunately true. I am pretty sure that Canada had a similar law and changed it due to an influx of illegals.
Of the 38 counties in the world that have “birthright citizenship” only 2 would I consider developed (US & Canada) the rest are third world ratholes that no one want to go to any way. The US needs to change the law but I don’t see that happening in my lifetime.

I might even propose that at least the mother has to be in the U.S. legally (green card, visa, etc.) for the child to obtain citizenship. At least then we know they followed the rules. Just a thought.
IIRC, it was changed because pregnant Chinese women were booking flights to Canada in their 9th month, lying about their due dates, and hoping to have the baby once they landed. Canada wised up, why can’t the USA?
