I agree with that to a point, but Bush’s conservatism was a qualified (”compassionate”) conservatism. That was the problem. The answer isn’t another brand of qualified conservatism. It’s just conservatism. The common sense is inherent.

agreed, do the majority of people equate conservatism with bush? If so then a qualifier is needed to separate oneself form the Bush legacy. Esp if the conservatism is going old school.

I suppose you can say Reagan conservatism vs bush conservatism. they have the same qualifier but they are worlds apart on some of the major issues like spending and war fighting
