The next health fight: Summit leaves Dems stymied
NY Post ^ | February 27, 2010 | GRACE-MARIE TURNER

The White House expected a slam-dunk at Thursday's health summit -- another tour-de-force by President Obama that would convince rank-and-file Democrats in Congress that the time's come to push the reform bill through. That didn't happen -- but the push is still on.

The president's advisers seemed to expect the Blair House event to repeat President Obama's triumph at last month's House Republican retreat in Baltimore. But there, he was on stage, flanked by flags and behind a microphone and podium looking down on Republicans who were sitting around tables at lunch.

How's that "denamding" working out for ya? Do you think anyone is listening? I agree with you but unfortunately you are preaching to the choir! Face it, America is screwed! It will be 2012 before we can actually get enough political footing to start to turn things around. What will America look like then?

I'm afraid that a massive revolution could only help us now. Time for constitutionalists to massively unite and bring about change!! Perhaps a CCO organization, (constitutional community organinizers) If ACORN can do it, so can we...

That's what the 912 and Tea Party groups are doing. We have a group here who's interviewing candidates, determining who passes constitutionalist muster, and are going out campaigning for them. We are backing already 2 Congressional candidates in the primaries, one going against C.W. Bill Young (R) and one going against Kathy Castor. The first we're hoping to replace Young in the primary and the other will be running against Castor as a Republican. Both are strong on the constitution, and one is a black Republican running in a gerrymandered district designed for liberal democrats.

We're also working at the state legislature level. Multiply us by thousands of other organizations across the country and 2010/2012 can bring us a long way back to sanity.

Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollee’s cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. Snip The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011. Snip Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011. “President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees” in fiscal 2010, Matz said. “We took them at their word, and I can’t believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward,” he added.

“The president’s advisers seemed to expect the Blair House event to repeat President Obama’s triumph at last month’s House Republican retreat in Baltimore.”

I didn’t think the Republican retreat was a trumph for Obama and Thursday’s submit was certainly not a trumph for him. He lied and monopolized the time at the retreat and he lied and monpolized the time at the summit. I was very proud of the Republicans at both events.
