Barack Obama destroys first year in office Barack Obama
Christina Lamb in Washington
WHEN President Barack Obama took office last year he was compared to Superman, even joking at a dinner that he had been born on Krypton and sent here ... to save the planet Earth. Last January he appeared on the cover of Spider-Man.
Now, with his ambitious legislative agenda in tatters, the once invincible president has moved from comic-strip hero to comparisons to one of the great flawed figures of American literature. Ten days ago a leading election analyst, Charlie Cook, compared Obama and his battle to push through healthcare reform to Captain Ahab and his suicidal hunt for the great white whale.
Despite poll after poll showing that Americans main priority is jobs, the president has focused on reforming Americas healthcare system and extending coverage to the 40m citizens with no insurance.
I think choosing to take a Captain Ahab-like approach to healthcare Im going to push for this even in the worst downturn since the Great Depression is roughly comparable to Bushs decision to go to war [in Iraq], Cook told Politico. It basically destroyed the first year of a presidency.
Obama made a last-ditch attempt last week to secure opposition support through a seven-hour summit shown live on television. Although the president was widely admired for his unflappable handling of 40 legislators, no progress was made as Republicans repeatedly called for a clean sheet. Boy, that didnt work, wrote veteran commentator Peggy Noonan in Fridays Wall Street Journal.

So he just publicly admitted, for the record, that he wasn't born in the United States?

That’s an idiotic statement but understandable coming from any reporter.
Hate to say it...but this guy would screw up a wet dream.
We are all in peril as long as he remains in power.
Diss the Brits again, Barry!
They bite back.

I wish they’d get their facts straight. It may be 30 million PEOPLE but it’s certainly not 40 million CITIZENS.
I like the Capt. Ahab analogy. Health Care is his Moby Dick.
I see you read much of what the American Ex-Pat in SouthEast Asia wrote, too. His blog laid it out square.
—yeah—I think of him as having most of the characteristics of Woodrow Wilson but dumb—(”corpseman” comes to mind)) —only the international situation he is messing up for the U. S. is even worse than it was in 1918-—
minus the 20 million or so illegals...
That number is a lie told so often that some idiots believe it to be true.
“We are all in peril as long as he remains in power.”
Very astute statement. In addition to wanting to make all of us completely dependent on the government, he project weakness to our enemies.
“The PM claimed that the Syrians view the decision to return the US ambassador to Damascus as a sign of weakness, rather than as a responsible decision aimed at improving the ties between the two countries as Washington intended.
According to Netanyahu, Ahmadinejad understood the American positions in the same way, believing that US President Barak Obama is an inexperienced leader whose dealings with Iran stem from weakness and fear.”

Mac daddy is never to be questioned about anything, he never to be blamed about anything and sees himself as never, ever being wrong about anything.
Afterall he is the chosen one and perfect in all things.
The only thing, after all as listed above, that is a provn fact is he is perfect liar with nobody even close in second place.
Who's this "us," Kemosabe?

We are not interested in adding our ideas into their bill and then calling it ok. We are interested in removing from their bill ideas that are anathema to us from a basic “what is the proper role and size of government” perspective.
They pay lip service to adding our ideas. They are not interested in removing those ideas we object to. That’s why we are at this impasse.
I hope we stay as strong as we have been. It’s the only way we’re going to stop this thing for good.
