I'll have to veto this, because Grant was also Republican and a war hero.

Put RR on currency that has a Rat on it; the time to whitewash the Rats out of existence is far overdue.

We need a $500 bill. Wait till inflation hits. Put our greatest 20th century president on the top denomination bill.

Put RR on currency that has a Rat on it;

How about the $20? Andrew Jackson, well known for his fights against national banking, must be rolling in his grave about being on one of the most widely distributed Federal Reserve notes.

$1-Washington, Federalist
$5-Lincoln, Republican
$10-Hamilton, Federalist - Shot to death by Rat Burr in a duel
$20-Jackson, Rat
$50-Grant, Republican
$100-Franklin, No Party - before formation of parties

Limited choice.

I don’t want any of the money messed with every time they do something like that it costs billions. Besides I sure don’t want an Obama bill someday so let’s not mess with changing them.

Would hate to see Grant go. But after Zero and the Dems get through, we’ll be using $50’s like $5’s.

Put Ronald Reagan on the $100,000 dollar bill.

That bill will be as common as a dollar bill after Obama and friends get done destroying our economy with hyper-inflation.

It's not the worst idea a Congressman has had, but it would have been more likely to go through if it had been proposed five years ago, shortly after President Reagan died.

And, yes, Grover Norquist's "Reagan Project" left a very ugly taste in people's mouths. Americans are more likely to rename things after a recently deceased leader when it isn't part of an organized lobbying campaign.

Norquist made us cynical about such things. We wouldn't have gotten so many things named after John Kennedy or John Glen or Martin Luther King if a Democratic hack had proposed renaming schools and streets and parks as part of a PR campaign. Naming and renaming had to at least appear to be a spontaneous expression of respect and gratitude, not something orchestrated.

Congress isn't going to take Grant off the $50. What Reagan will probably get is his picture on a coin for a few years as Kennedy and Eisenhower did. That's an uncommon tribute for the country to bestow and it's something he deserves.

If present trends continue, there will be plenty of new bill denominations available, so no need to displace U.S. Grant.

I'll have to veto this, because Grant was also Republican and a war hero.

Patrick Timothy McHenry (born October 22, 1975) is a Republican United States Representative from North Carolina,

This overly ambitious twit wasn't even out of elementary school during the Reagan years, so I'm thinking that, instead of honoring the Gipper, he's actually making brownie points in his hometown by crapping on Grant.

What a boob wasting everybody's time on this stuff.

The Civil War is over.
The South LOST fer cripesakes.
McHenry needs to grow up and get over it.

i vote for jackson. he was a genocidal lunatic who was determined to eradicate indians. the horrors that racist idiot inflicted on innocent people should be enough to have him removed from the $20 bill.

I have long thought that Reagan should be on the $1 coin. I believe that many (myself included) were disinclined to support and use the two most recent attempts at the coin, both of which featured feminists icons, because of the blatant attempt at propaganda. Neither SBA nor Sacagawea deserved the honor of being featured on a denomination.
On the other hand, I would bet that the Reagan dollar coin would be immensely popular and supported by the vast majority of Americans.

While I believe Reagan would be a vast improvement over that corrupt druken slob Grant, I think this is just a “feel good” ploy. We have far more essential things to be concerned with at the moment. If we don’t change them then no amount of currency will be worth the pictures on them.
