(Honorary) Dr. Al Gore
American Thinker ^ | March 6, 2010 | John Leonard

Posted on 03/11/2010 6:06:04 PM PST by raptor22

The University of Tennessee announced that former Vice President Al Gore will receive an honorary doctorate of Laws and Humane Letters in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology on May 14 at graduation ceremonies, where he will be the featured commencement speaker. Reporter Chloe White Kennedy wrote on knoxnews.com that UT chancellor Jimmy (no tongue in) Cheek said:

Vice President Gore's career has been marked by visionary leadership, and his work has quite literally changed our planet for the better. He is among the most accomplished and respected Tennesseans in history, and it is fitting that he should be honored by the flagship education institution of his home state.

Al will be adding to an impressive haul of honors and accolades that he's accumulated over the years, including the first runner-up for Time Person of the Year in 2007, the Dan David award from Israel (with a million bucks), an Oscar, and the Nobel Peace Prize (and another million).

I wonder how much Al had to dish out for this “award”. Hopefully, they made him pay some big bucks for it.

People in Tennessee must be incredibly stupid, or delusional.

I’d sure hate to have an “honorary doctor” do a triple bypass on me.

Remember his daddy was bought and paid for by Armand Hammer—Lenin and Stalin’s good buddy.

Albore’s whole life is a sham. Another phoney undeserved award for a completely bogus and proven false ideology.

“... He is among the most accomplished and respected Tennesseans in history...”

Give me a break. I know Tennessee has many distinguished lawyers, doctors, physicists, etc.

They also have many hard working, honorable garbage collectors, teachers, etc, etc.

Any and ALL are more worthy than Gore - who would have to struggle to reach room temp IQ and who has never accomplished anything through his own intellect and honesty.

Hmmmm...sounds like a Kennedy.

The University of Tennessee will never live this down. Giving an honorary degree to the worlds greatest charlatan!

"He is among the most accomplished and respected Tennesseans in history,..."

Respected?

He may be by a few who are of the same ilk, but he is also among the most reviled and despised men to ever set foot in Tennessee.

Al Gore is no Tennessean.

I don’t know why they just can’t give him an honorary degree in Bovine Scatology and call that good.

I think the people of TN see just fine as they voted against him in 2000.

It’s the leftists in Academia at UT that you should direct your comment.

Also as some of the other posts have mentioned, Gore’s people need only give a ‘contribution’ to a certain dean and voila presto ‘honorary whatever’. Believe me, deans are often failed academics who found a niche as academic bureaucrats and their measure of performance along with university presidents is how much money they can raise; they are fund raisers.

So this news is non-news other than to point out how unprincipled many in academic bureacracy can be.

But the people of TN are otherwise just fine in their views.

Mr. Cheeks seems to be ignorant of Tennessee’s history;

Born on a mountain top in Tennessee,
Greenest state in the land of the free.
Raised in the woods so’s he knew every tree,
Killed him a bear when he was only three.

Davy, Davy Crockett King of the Wild Frontier.

Fought single handed through the Injun war,
Till the Creeks was whipped and peace was restored.
And while he was handling this risky chore,
Made himself a legend, forevermore.

Davy, Davy Crockett the man who don’t know fear.

He went of to Congress and served a spell
Fixin’ up the government and laws as well.
Took over Washington, I heard tell,
And patched up the crack in the Liberty Bell.

Davy, Davy Crockett, seein’ his duty clear.

When he come home, his politickin’ was done,
While the western march had just begun.
So he packed his gear, and his trusty gun
And let out a grinnin’ to follow the sun.

Davy, Davy Crockett, Leadin the Pioneer.

There is nothing honorable about this false profit(sic) and the morons who feel compelled to give out useless awards are even more pathetic.

The gig is up - but he’s too cowardly to admit it.
