One day after Rep. Eric Massa (D.-NY) stunned political pundits by announcing he was stepping down after one term, the veteran Democratic House Member that everyone has guessed will call it quits made it official Thursday.
At 68 and after 14 years in the House, far-left Democratic Rep. William Delahunt announced that he would not seek re-election to his Cape Cod-area House district. The lawmaker cited the usual personal reasons that most retiring politicians do for leaving office. In his words, [Retirement has] got nothing to do with politics. Life is about change. I think its healthy. Its time.
But Delahunts announcement also gave some hints that the magic and excitement of being a Democratic congressman when Barack Obama is President -- which admirers have long likened to serving during the early presidential stints of Franklin D. Roosevelt and :John F. Kennedy -- is fading. And it makes one wonder that with Delahunt becoming the 16th Democratic House Members to announce retirement, how many more will follow him?

The House of Representatives stinks so badly of commie donkey crap that even some of the DemocRATS are leaving. I don’t blame them. I’d leave too.
Time to go bozo as you were going to get fired anyway. I bet his relect numbers were only in the high 30s.
McCain won his district by 5 points, and Scott Brown won it by 20. This could be a pickup.
Yeah. But the Rats are also finding that it’s just not fun to be on Obambi’s “team.”
Maybe the Banking Queen will be next.
Hmmm.... I dont have a link, but heard on Talk Radio some time back that the Banking Queen’s district went overwhelmingly for Scott Brown .. ?? ... !
From your lips to God’s ears!
Here’s more on Jeff Perry:
Last night we had our first chance to welcome Jeff Perry to Pundit Review Radio. Jeff is a state representative running to replace retiring Bill Delahunt in Congress.
Jeff was personable, likeable and direct. He is that rare breed of politician because his words and deeds are in synch. Jeff says he is a fiscal conservative, and he backed it up by being one of only two state legislators to vote NO on the boy it feels good but how will we ever pay for it Mass Health bill. That took serious political courage to stand on principle and against his friend and governor Mitt Romney.
We sent Scott Brown to Washington and hes a breath of fresh air. I see many of the same qualities in Jeff Perry. Can Massachusetts send two fiscal conservatives to Washington in the same year? Yes We Can!

That’s impossible about McCain. No Republican Presidential candidate has won a single county in MA since Papa Bush in 1988.
I thought Delahunt made it official last week?
Republican POTUS nominees always used to carry Plymouth and Barnstable counties, except Goldwater. But yes none since Bush in 88.
It was McCain’s best district but he got only 43%, same as Bush in 04.
Brown did carry it heavily. Except for that nasty little town on the tip of Barnstable county.
Yes, Barnstable County needs to be circumsized at the top of its tip and remove that festering foreskin known as Provincetown (otherwise known as the capital of the Cream of Sum Yung Waiter Clam Chowder, which I so unfortunately sampled).
Looks like you are right. I thought I had read that somewhere.

If I were in charge of redistricting, Provincetown and the other heavily Democrat towns on the tip of the Cape would be combined with Nantucket, Martha’s, the New Bedford area, Fall River, Taunton, Brockton, and some Democrat areas south of Boston to leave a much more Republican Barnstable County-based CD (probably one that gave Bush and McCain 48% instead of 43%).
He should resign NOW because of his Amy Bishop affair.
Do I want to know if that means what I think it does?
Eww...
Worst clam chowder I ever had.
