Breazeale (R-NC 7th) Supports Banning Earmarks (VET FOR CONGRESS ALERT!!)
Will Breazeale for Congress ^

Posted on 03/15/2010 6:47:14 AM PDT by Leader_Of_The _Conservatives

Will Breazeale, candidate for United States Congress, is backing the Republican Party's decision to ban all earmarks. Yesterday House Republicans approved a conference-wide moratorium on pet project spending.

"If our nation is serious about avoiding total collapse, we have got to stop the reckless, out of control spending. House Republicans gave that quest a voice. I applaud their efforts and completely support banning all earmarks," Breazeale commented.

Breazeale made news last month when he blocked a large earmark from his Democratic opponent, incumbent Congressman Mike McIntyre. His objections were seconded by the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority and blocked pork barrel spending for New Hanover County's Northeast Interceptor and asset management projects. Breazeale's ability to block the earmark saved the taxpayers of District 7 as much as eight million dollars.

"As I proved last month, I am very serious about supporting a ban on all earmarks. Being seconded in a near unanimous way as I was by the Public Utility Authority, it's obvious that the residents of District 7 are serious about it too," observed Breazeale.

It's a good start, but earmarks are only a fraction of the national budget. Health and Human Services and Social Security make up over half the budget by themselves.

Here's the problem. If the government keeps spending like it's doing, it's going to tank the economy. We'll default on our national debt and the government won't have the money to pay social security, welfare, etc.

If the government stops spending so much, it's going to tank the economy. They will have to shrink the military, stop welfare payments, freeze social security, and shrink government programs. All that money will stop flowing into the economy.

We've passed the tipping point. Anything the government does to fix the problem is going to cause a depression or recession. If they do nothing it will eventually cause a depression or recession. The longer they delay, the worse the problem becomes.

you are so right - it will be a good show when farm aid and other PORKER programs are cut out of the budget. If Ethanol was any good it would not need gov help.

Finally more OIL drilling, on gov land, might have the same effect on prices that has happened because of gas discoveries. Then we need to find some help for delivering a low cost product via oru refineries.
