Geez - if republicans realy want to start a revolution they will oppose the Doctor fix and MAKE THE DEMOCRATS lower medicare payments. This will take thousands of cdoctors out that business by Nov and ahve newspapers screaming about the gandma that can’t find a doctor. But the weak republicans will fold because doctors, WHO DID NOT PUT UP A FIGHT OVER OBAMACARE, are begging for help. let them eat cake!!

Availability will go down.
Quality will go down.
Costs will go up.

All of this was known by everyone. It's the price the country had to pay for giving the government more power over us.

most doctor I know work for a living- people who work for a living have a real hard time combatting thugocracy lobbies staffed by legions of professional slugs who do not

this has always disadvantaged conservatives vs liberals

where is Joe the Plumber when you need an honest man with honest views? Fixing the toilet of some think tank intellectual who never created a job or made a payroll in their life

Many did, and they were listened to just like the rest of us were. that is to say, not at all.

Too self-absorbed to see this tsunami heading their way. I have worked with alot of research doctors and most of them do not even know what day it is. They are so wrapped up in their research, grants, etc.

The Republicans need to try to deal with this in reconciliation. If they win, the reconciliation fails. If they lose, then on the vote on this matter directly later this year, they need to walk out en masse from both houses and leave the Democrats hoist on their own petard.

This is the tip of the iceberg.

Those physicians and surgeons left
will then have to face 16,000 new IRS agents
each with a new shiny machine gun and a dream of
wanting to be the new O-men bring down “evil”,
that is, educated doctors going around
the Reparations Oath or 150 Federal Heath Care Agencies.

Unfortunatly, the doctors as a group have never fought the many parisites that prey on their profession—BECAUSE THEY AFFECTED THEM EQUALLY.
Thus, they could all simply raise their rates TOGETHER.
I suppose they could organaize now (the AMA is a leftie cesspool) but it would be catch-up baseball.

With stuff like this going on (trying to confirm with cousin who works for Atlantic Care) more doctors are going to take down their shingles. The lawsuits against doctors will be unbelievable if patients are denied follow-ups for up to a month.

Ban Medicare recipients from receiving follow-up care within 30 days of their initial treatment as part of government-run healthcare.” This kicks in immediately

Go back in the archives and see that physicians did speak up. According to a recent article in the New England Medical Journal more than 40% said they would cut back or retire if the bill comes into law. Of course here on FR there were posters who said it was all talk and they’d never do it. They were wrong. I know personally a few who are planning on it and one who has already started the process.

no one is discussing the ‘fee for service’ fix the dems propose(see Howard Dean interviews). This is the same thing as putting doctors and other health care providers on salary rather than paying them per patient or service.
That’s what they do in France. The doctors are also in a union and strike against their employer, the government, whenever talk arises about pay cuts.
In some places in the US, doctors are becoming employees of hospitals because private practice is unsustainable. There is a husband/wife cardiologist team that had to give up their private practice because of insufficient medicare reimbursements.
Of course, ‘progressives’ think doctors should serve the common good without any ‘profit’ motive. I don’t see them working for ‘cost’.

What you are going to see is what's happening in Britain, where they have to import poorly trained Doctors who can barely speak English from third world countries because nobody wants to become a Doctor in Britain.

Being a Doctor is one of the more thankless professions as it is. Long, expensive years of medical school. Really long grueling hours of residency. Threats of lawsuits for doing your job. Nobody in their right mind is going to go through all that simply to become a glorified social worker who's salary is capped by the government.
