Palin's appearance at CSU Stanislaus draws assemblyman's challenge

SACRAMENTO — Sarah Palin typically generates controversy with what she says.

Now the former vice presidential candidate is creating a buzz over how much she'll make at a black-tie gala she plans to headline at Cal State Stanislaus.

How much she is commanding for her June 25 appearance at the $500-per-ticket affair won't be known because her contract with the CSU Stanislaus Foundation stipulates secrecy. It's the secrecy that rankles state Sen. Leland Yee, D-San Francisco, who is calling for full disclosure.

"The CSU should immediately disclose how much money is being diverted from students to pay Sarah Palin's exorbitant speaking fees," Yee said in a statement accompanying a letter to the university's president, Hamid Shirvani.

"At a time when students are struggling to afford an education at CSU, I would hope that spending potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars on a guest speaker for a black-tie gala would be low on the priority list.

Yee described Palin as "an out-of-touch former politician" and said the money should be spent on scholarships and financial aid.

The rabid Left once again telegraphs whom it fears.

I’m SURE Mr. Yee railed against all of the other speakers in the Cal State system that commanded speaking fees. Riiiight.

These Commies are SO predictably. BJ Clinton commands big bucks wherever he goes, and nary a word about him pocketing money.

But let a Conservative write a book or make a speech, and they are taking money out of the mouths of children—to the barricades!!!

What a bunch of maroons.

Yee described Palin as "an out-of-touch former politician" and said the money should be spent on scholarships and financial aid. Yo, Yee, spend your own money on scholarships and financial aid instead of worrying about the money that other people are willing to pay $500 per plate to attend a black-tie gala.

Questioning CSU is fine. They have no right to question Gov. Palin for charging any amount. It’s a private business and her fees should not be up to questions. If they can do that, they can question your salaries also.

Don’t the event fees pay the cost of the speaker? Plus make donations to charity?

Maybe Leland could come speak for free and donate all the $500 ticket payments to charity. Sure to be a sellout.

This guy is an idiot. To start with people are paying $500 a pop to go to this appearance, that is where the money is coming from to pay Sarah. The frickin' left have no shame.

Better yet, how come we don’t have any disclosure on how much of the university’s money goes into left-wing/liberal slush funds? How much are those supposed left-wing “student groups” getting?

Democrats are great at demanding high standards of others.

Just don't expect them to hold themselves to the same standards.

Bunch of spoiled children is how best to describe the Democrat Party.

What nonsense. Whatever Sarah’s speaking fee is, clearly the foundation is going to bring in an amount much greater than that, which will go to help the students the assemblyman pretends to care about.

I’m sure he would have no problem if some much less popular, Socialist speaker came in her place (like Mitt Romney for example), and they could only get $5 instead of $500 a ticket, costing the university hundredes of thousands of dollars.

Alinsky Rules.

Moral people are to be held to moral standards. Immoral people are free to do whatever they please.
