Two things from Scott Roberts First, he has no inside information as Thurston County Republican Party chairman. Second, there isn't any doubt in his mind that Dino Rossi is running for U.S. Senate against three-term Democratic Sen. Patty Murray.
Rossi was in Washington, D.C., last week meeting with Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele and also visiting with Republican senators who want to win back a few seats from the Democrats.
"I think Rossi is in.
He doesn't get seen in D.C. unless he is in,"
Well Dino, I’m going with Didier. Sounds a helluva lot more conservative than dithering Dino
And it’s on.
I recall when John Thune was running for Senator of South Dakota against Tim Johnson, he lost due to suspicious votes appearing on an Indian reservation. Two years later, he came back and ousted Tom Daschle.
I’d love to see Dino knock out Murray when he should have been governor of the state.
I’m going with Didier all the way. Dino is afraid of his own shadow and was too PC to hammer the dingbat Gregoire.
I haven't met Didier, but know some people who know him well. Besides being outspoken and able to hold his own against anyone, he doesn't have a tanning bed fake tan. His is real from being out in the Eastern Washington sun.
I have been watching Paul Akers. Does anyone know about him?
Wow, a chance to rid ourselves of that ugly little drone, Murray, I don’t know any of the Republican players but just to take her seat would be terrific.
I wonder if there are any prospects in Wisconsin, New York (2x) and Oregon.
This complicates things...
“I agree. I have met Dino. Not impressive at all. His last campaign was woosy. It is no wonder he lost the second time. Also, he is, IMHO, a RINO. I think he would cave the minute someone breathed in his face.”
I think LibreOuMort will back me up: Dino was ANYTHING BUT A RINO, and we knew him from a number of years in the legislature. He was great! His first campaign for gov was exciting and a barnstormer — though he won on the first count, there weren’t enough votes to overcome the theft of that election.
The second race, though, I believed he was trouble from the start. We knew through first-hand observations he’d been meeting with Party and Money folks before announcing. But his announcement... it was thoroughly scripted, wooden and dead. And he never rose above that after.
Dino a RINO? No way (unless the definition of “RINO” means “failed to succeed” but that’s not how *I* read it). Memory says he was still supporting Republican, conservative ideals, but the fire wasn’t there. He was almost (not quite) as bad as Obama with his teleprompters. I heard lots of nice words (and a few I didn’t like) from him, but everything seemed to come from focus groups and nothing from the heart.
I still like Dino the guy. A lot — at least when I get to see “Dino the guy” and not “Dino the politician/candidate on the stump.”
Who/what he is today? I don’t know but I’ll be watching. If he’s still under the thumb of Party/Money folks I am not going to be very enthused about his candidacy. OTOH if I see the old Dino, Reagan’s understudy, I’ll be aboard in a flash — checkbook in hand and volunteering everywhere I can (even walking parades for him with a gimp foot).
Dino used to be a really good guy. But if he’s not anymore, if he has become nothing more than another politician, my support will go elsewhere.
But he was never a RINO.
Check out Clint Didier. After his home page loads give it a few minutes for the second page to load and then learn about him. There is a schedule of all the places he will be appearing.
Go Clint!
A. There are a lot of people making plans for my life. I have not said that I would never run for office. But I certainly haven't said I would.
Starting out a suburban dad, I never thought I'd get involved in public service ... But if I do run again, the key question is, "Where could I best serve?" We have four kids between (the ages of) 9 and 19. It's not a simple decision made just by me.
....................... Honestly, I do like being at home for dinner at night.
Q. A U.S. Senate seat would move you pretty far from home, wouldn't it?
A. It would. But running for public office is a lot of work. It's a concentrated effort. It's not a casual thing.
Q. Why are these polls including you before you've made a decision?
A. It's common practice. The polls then get mentioned they like that. It's like free advertising. I'm clearly a known commodity and it's an interesting proposition.
Read full interview here.
I remember Dino was interviewed shortly after losing the Governor's race the second time and they brought up the fact that in just a couple of years Patty Murray's senate seat would be coming up. They asked if he might run for her Senate seat at that time?. I remember Dino saying almost these exact same words at that time.
It isn't as if Dino hasn't had enough time to have thought about it and made a decision. He states that he has until June to make a decision. (that is when they have to file) My personal opinion is if he waits that long and leaves these other candidates working their butts off to get recognition, then he comes in with name recognition, I would lose whatever respect I have for him. He would be a real political hack in my eyes.
But he was never a RINO.
Well, I am just basing that observation on his last run. I am tired of candidates that say one thing to get the vote and do another when they are elected.
I really want someone in their faces from the getgo regardless of the political consequences.
I really don’t care about the political process or the protection of government. I really care about the Constitution, our liberty and I want someone who is elected to stand up for that throughout their term.
Rossi the legislator was not a RINO.
He’s not Rossi the legislator any longer.
In Dino’s last campaign he was damaged by a bunch of tv commercials by the unions that were just plain lies.(big surprise) Queen Christine has been paying the unions back ever since.
