I found it on the internet, the video is so bad that it is almost useless, but study the first 3 seconds and you will see Rodney King get up and lunge at Powell.

Thanks for that link. When the RealPlayer video first played, it didn’t run smoothly, and I missed the beginning. Once it had loaded well, though, I started it again several times and could see what happened.
By looking for “George Holliday” I’ve found an flv version on YouTube that may be easier to see — http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZDrZDEqeKk
The part that shows King standing up and charging is clear enough. It happens in the first two seconds before the video becomes blurry.
At the beginning of the video King is on the ground in the left quarter of the screen (with his head screened by a policeman standing between him and camera, and with another policeman at his feet). Suddenly — just a second or so into the video — King leaps to his feet and charges the policeman who was at his feet (I called it lunging before, but I really think it qualifies as a charge). That policeman meets the charge by swinging his nightstick like a right-handed baseball player. Then the video becomes blurry. When they are back in focus again (at about second 14), they’ve moved to the right, and King is on the ground again.
