Here are the facts of Election 2012, as it stands now:
Two major Republican candidates are engaged in the serious travel, staff hiring, contact building and general planning that are required to make a credible run for President. That pair is Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor who ran in 2008 and is and will be for the foreseeable future the party's front runner, and Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, who was considered for the 2008 veep slot by John McCain.
Romney has the stronger hand but some real problems. He retains almost all the strengths he brought to the battle two years ago, when he was the runner-up to McCain: a record of accomplishment in business and government; a stately mien (and famously great hair); a solid and photogenic family; a New England base, anchored by a vacation home in primary-powered New Hampshire; and vast personal wealth and fundraiser prowess. But his liabilities are equally formidable. Some are the public's long-standing bigotry against his Mormon faith, a history of breathtaking policy flip-flops and, perhaps as grave no kidding his striking nonchalance about transporting the family dog in a box tied to the roof of his car en route to a family vacation. (Note to would-be candidates: Don't piss off the animal lovers.)

But, I'd say that this article has the stopped clock/blind squirrel syndrome.
BO has home field advantage in 2012, the election is his to lose. So far, he's doing a fine job of it - frankly, I'm not entirely sure that he'll run in 2012 - but that's another thread....
We need to keep up the pressure.
More RAT posturing to decide who the “best” GOP candidate would be.
Romney in ‘12 is a loser. Stop listening to the MSM and establishment GOP. They both mean to screw you over.
The most important issue is the destruction of liberty by and over-reaching imperial, tyrannical federal government.
Find someone who will actually work to shrink it or disobey it for every possible elected position in the country.
NO HE WILL NOT! Do not let the media pick our candidate again. He may be a contestant but he’s very far from a winner. We have this year and most of next to get ready fior the primaries. Grassroots is very powerful and most don’t want the same old. Mitt will be tainted by MassCare and done before he’s started. And though I’d take Pawlenty over Mitt any day, I don’t think he’s the “IT” guy, either.
Right now, I’d like to see Paul Ryan. Too soon to tell yet just who will emerge.
there’ll probably be some third party candidate, and all the blacks, and all the new amnesty citizens will vote for Obama.
The conservatives will be seething mad at Palin for supporting McCain who went and voted for the amnesty shortly after winning the primary.
by 2012 the warts on Obamacare will be popping-up all over the place, and Romney will be the last guy you want to have out there in that situation.
I will stay home before I vote for Romney.
I’m not entirely sure we will even have elections in 2012.
And that was THE FUNNIEST line. The myth of orator extraordinaire continues. His poll ratings on health care moved not a nanometer before, after, since. Oh, correction actually they went slightly down since the quest began.
Sorry, but that’s ridiculous. Castro had elections, Saddam Hussein had elections, Chavez has elections.
They don’t mean anything, but they have them.
That’s what we’ll see long before we see a time of no elections.
Yes, Time Magazine is exactly where I go for my political insights.
I have no idea who will win the nomination at this point, but I can’t see it as Romney. The hair, flip flopping on issues and Romney-care make him look like Edwards to most of the south and west.
Rush Limbaugh: Elections could end thanks to Obama
‘The Constitution has been ripped to shreds, so why is anything safe?’

Tell Rush it’s ridiculous.
Time Magazine just trying to keep their man in the White House with this “lets pick an easy target” for Obama to defeat. They will want David Duke to run next because The One can beat him. Any Republican will be destroyed as so they they look like they are running ahead of any of the others. See what they did to McCain?
